Today let's talk about how to dye Easter eggs naturally using vegetables, fruit, and spices. This is a chemical-free, homemade way to dye your hard-boiled eggs using natural ingredients like cabbage and blueberries to name a few.

How to dye Easter eggs naturally

If you have been around me very long you know I love anything homemade. For years I have wanted to try my hand at dying eggs from natural ingredients like fruit and vegetables rather than using chemical dyes. So this year was the year I decided to teach myself how to dye Easter eggs naturally.

After a week of testing out different foods to make different natural dye colors, making three trips to the store, and spending a week in the kitchen, I finally found the best way to dye eggs naturally with everyday ingredients and am so happy with my beautiful easter eggs in all different colors.

I am going to be honest here — there are many many websites that have recipes on how to dye eggs the natural way and I am not sure where they got their information. I tried to follow many but in some instances, the eggs shells got eaten up or the color wasn't that pretty.

By the time I finished making the best naturally dyed Easter eggs, I felt like I had been a scientist in my own laboratory, aka kitchen. The methods I use can create beautiful light colors to lovely vibrant colors. So here is my best advice on how to dye Easter eggs using all-natural ingredients and what inspired me to dye Easter eggs to start with.

Dye Easter Eggs Naturally

To begin allow yourself several days to dye hard-boiled eggs with food and spices. This recipe allows you to dye two eggs in each color at a time using a wide mouth Ball Mason jar that holds two cups of juice but if you plan to make many natural color Easter eggs then I would double or maybe triple this recipe.

Here is an example of a larger glass container I used with a snap-down lid. This is a great larger jar option for your natural dyes.

Supplies to Dye Easter Eggs Naturally

  • White eggs (I found white to make the prettiest colors)
  • Half Red/Purple cabbage (beautiful blue eggs)
  • 1 cup Blueberries (blue eggs)
  • 3 large Beets (pink eggs)
  • Tumeric (yellow eggs)
  • White vinegar
  • Pots to boil fruit, vegetables, and spices
  • Strainer
  • Glass jars (I used wide mouth mason jars but if you plan to make a lot of eggs consider bigger glass jars)
  • Funnel (this will provide an easy way to pour the liquid into the jars)
  • Tongs
  • Paper towels

Best Hard Boiled Eggs to Dye Naturally

Once you have all your supplies begin making your hard-boiled eggs. I tried three different ways of boiling the eggs — the normal boiling in water, in an air-fryer, and steaming the eggs.

I found if you steam the eggs you get a more smooth look to your colored eggs. If you use the air-fryer you get a fun speckled look and normal boiling in water the color isn't as even. Now that I have the art of dying eggs naturally I will be steaming my eggs in the future.

Also, I did try dying brown eggs naturally and if you love darker colors then you may love this method. I will show a few as we go through this recipe. But for the best color results of your natural egg dyes use white eggs.

Natural Red Dye for Easter Eggs

For some reason, this one gave me the most trouble, and a funny story. I tried many different methods but the funniest was dying eggs in pickled beet juice.

I placed the eggs in the strained liquid and checked back after 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, and so on. Each time I pulled it out and found the most beautiful pink color but when I rinsed it the color washed off and it was almost white.

Finally, I left it in overnight, and the next day the egg shell felt like it was brittle. After letting it dry the egg shriveled up so I give pickled beet juice a thumbs down. LOL!

Now using the pickled beet juice still made pretty pale pink eggs but if you want a deeper color then try this beets dye recipe.

Easter eggs dyed with beets

Pink Naturally Dyed Eggs Recipe – Beets

Cut your beets into small pieces. I removed the peeling on the outside.

Place 3 cups of water in a pot to boil and add the cut beets. Let it boil for 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove the beets from the water and strain the beet juice into a glass jar. I used wide-mouth mason jars which hold 2 cups of juice. Fill about 3/4 full so that when you drop the egg into the jar the liquid doesn't run over the edges.

Next, let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.

Once the juice has cooled add vinegar. I added 4 teaspoons of vinegar to my roughly two cups of juice.

Now stir the mixture with a metal spoon. Do not use wood or it will dye the wood. Now add your eggs.

To get beautifully dyed pink rose-colored eggs leave them in the dye bath for 2.5 hours. Here is another tip. The color came out stronger when I left the beet dye in the fridge overnight and then added boiled eggs to the dye the next day.

Look at the beautiful various shades achieved just by varying the soaking time. Something about letting the dye sit up for a while made it more concentrated.

Natural Yellow Dye for Easter Eggs

This was by far the easiest color to dye and the quickest. It takes overall the least amount of time to dye a yellow egg naturally.

Yellow Naturally Dyed Eggs Recipe – Turmeric

Place 3 cups of water in a pot to boil and add the turmeric. Let it boil for 15 to 20 minutes.

Strain the turmeric juice into a glass jar about 3/4 full. I used wide mouth mason jars which hold approximately 2 cups of juice. Then let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.

Once the juice has cooled add vinegar. I added 4 teaspoons of vinegar to my two cups of juice. Now stir the mixture with a metal spoon. Now add your eggs.

For a pale yellow egg leave it in the dye for 5 minutes. Set your timer for 5 minutes each time to get the depth of color you want.

Natural Blue Dye for Easter Eggs

Another easy natural dye to make. Blueberries are quick to dye and make such a beautiful color. This takes longer than the turmeric but much less time than beets and cabbage.

Place 3 cups of water in a pot to boil and add the blueberries. Let it boil for 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove the blueberries and then strain the blueberry juice into a glass jar. Then let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.

Once the juice has cooled add vinegar. I added 4 teaspoons of vinegar to my two cups of juice. Now stir with a metal spoon. Now add your eggs.

For a light blue color leave it in the dye for 15 minutes. Set your timer for 5 minutes increments after that until you get the shade of blue you want.

Natural Blue-Green Dye for Easter Eggs

Here is another easy natural dye to make and I was surprised that red/purple cabbage makes a blue-green color. This takes hours to soak and comes out so pretty.

Place 3 cups of water in a pot to boil and add sliced cabbage. Let it boil for 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove the cabbage and then strain the cabbage juice into a glass jar. Then let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes.

Once the juice has cooled add vinegar. I added 4 teaspoons of vinegar to my two cups of juice. Now stir with a metal spoon. Now add your eggs.

For a bright blue color set your timer for 4.5 hours.

Natural Green Dye for Easter Eggs

After I finished dying the other colors I used the blueberry and turmeric dyes to make green color. This was very simple to do and within an hour I had beautiful green Easter eggs.

How to dye Easter eggs naturally by mixing Turmeric and Blueberries

Green Naturally Dyed Eggs Recipe – Blueberry and Turmeric

  • 3/4 cup blueberry dye
  • 3/4 cup turmeric dye

Add the blueberry and turmeric dye to a mason jar and then stir together. Next, add your eggs.

For a beautiful light green egg set your timer for 45 minutes. If you want darker green keep them in the dye and check on them every 15 minutes until you get the ton you want.

Natural Orange Dye for Easter Eggs

For my project I stuck with my favorite colors but if you want to make naturally dyed orange Easter eggs simply follow one of my other recipes but boil the brown-colored egg peelings. From what I can tell this is another easy dye to make.

Best Tips for Dying Easter Eggs Naturally

Here are some tips to help you make your egg dying experience even more positive.

  • When you add the vinegar remember that this juice will DYE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. Make sure to wear an apron that you don't mind it getting dyed on. And cover your work area with something like cardboard or a cutting board that you don't mind getting dyed. Also, if children will be helping dye eggs keep paper towels handy so you can wipe up the spills right away.
  • Make sure to use heat-safe glass containers for your juice. Even this natural dye might leave color in your jars at the bottom.
  • When leaving your eggs in the liquid set your timer so you don't forget. It makes keeping track of the time so much easier and helps ensure you achieve the desired color. Whether you prefer muted colors or vibrant colors, you're sure to achieve it with the options provided.
  • Make your dye baths one day and then dye the eggs another day. The dye will work much better the second day after it has had time to sit. It also makes the process more enjoyable because it won't take up as much of your day.
  • Every egg is going to come out looking different. The variety of different shades is the beauty of dying Easter eggs with natural ingredients. You will notice in my stack that some are smooth looking and some are speckled. If you want a smoother look steam your eggs, for a speckled dyed egg put them in an air fryer.
  • And when you are finished put lids on the jars and you can use the natural dye for other projects later like dying fabric. This is why I used the wide mouth Ball Mason jars with lids and larger jars with snap-down lids so that I could store them in my fridge for later.
Pastel colored dyed eggs using fruit, vegetables and spices

Now, remember me mentioning what inspired me to do this project? Well, there are three reasons.

Why Did We Dye our Easter Eggs With Natural Ingredients

First, we have been trying to live more naturally with our foods for a while so I wanted to dye eggs using farm-to-table ingredients rather than artificial dyes.

Second I wanted to have a pretty naturally dyed egg option to decorate a tablescape and give you an idea for your Easter Sunday lunch.

And last, I had some adorable visitors come over which is what inspired me to dye these eggs to start with.

Paradise Found Farms – Poultry Farm

Meet Snow and the baby chicks from Paradise Found Farms.

Aren't they adorable!

Baby chicks inside a house with flowers and baskets

With spring here and Easter coming fast I thought some photos of baby chicks would brighten your day but when Kris at Paradise Found Farms suggested she bring a chicken I would have never guessed that I would become so fond of a chicken.

I mean really! Look how beautifully she posed for the camera. LOL!

Chicken inside a house

We had a blast taking pictures of Kris and Kellys' chicks. When we first started talking about bringing them to my home, so I could photograph them, I thought wouldn't it be fun to dye some eggs to go along with the photos. And that is where it all started with this post.

My wheels started turning as I thought about an idea for your Easter table with beautiful natural dyed Easter eggs.

Consider using these naturally dyed eggs as a place setting decoration for Easter. It's a great way to bring a touch of color to your tablescape. You can easily place a small handmade clay bowl on each salad plate and then place grass and these eggs on top.

Naturally dyed Easter egg table decorations

And I have many spring tablescapes you can try like this dollar store spring tablescape and this garden party table.

And keep an eye out on my YouTube because I will be sharing about the day Snow the chicken and her chicks came to visit.

I hope you have been inspired to dye Easter eggs naturally. It is much better for you and your family plus they make such pretty colored eggs.

Comment if you prefer naturally dyed eggs or a store-bought kit and good luck on your Easter egg dye adventure. Feel free to ask me any questions if you plan to dye eggs naturally. I would love to hear how your own natural Easter egg dyes turned out. Have a wonderful Easter!

Happy Decorating!

With warmer days here and spring flowers blooming it is time to think about decorating your mantel for spring. Here are spring mantel decorating ideas that are easy to recreate and have vintage written all over them.

Decorating your mantel for spring

My daughter and I got inspired one day and decided to go shopping inside our home and redecorate our living room mantel for spring. Decorating a mantel for spring is very easy and you don't have to leave home to get a spring look.

Plus, it's the perfect way to welcome the warmer weather and a mantel is a natural focal point in your living space. Here are simple steps to make your fireplace look amazing this time of year.

This post contains affiliate links, meaning I receive a commission if you purchase using the links below at no extra cost to you. All opinions are all my own.

Decorating a Mantel for Spring

When you think of spring what do you think of? I think of Easter, beautiful fresh flowers, baby chicks, bunnies, and lambs or anything that is just born, sunshine, gardening, and warmer days. All these spring mantel decor ideas you can incorporate on top of your fireplace mantel or hearth when decorating.

Now here is a list of items we used to create our vintage-style spring fireplace mantel. Look for similar things in your home to recreate this mantel. A beautiful spring mantel is the perfect way to welcome spring into your living space.

What Should I Put On My Mantel for Spring?

Great, now that you have a list let's walk through how to decorate your mantel for spring.

Shop the post:

HOW DO YOU DECORATE A SPRING FIREPLACE

If you have anything on your fireplace mantel now go ahead and remove everything. It will make decorating so much easier to start with a perfect blank canvas.

Now begin by placing one large item on the mantel first. We found this old window in my garage and thought this is perfect so we placed it on one side. This could also be a great place for a vintage mirror.

Vintage window on mantel

Next, we grabbed this bunny oil painting that was hanging in my dining room which is now been taking over by my hubby as a study, and layered the bunny art over the old window. This bunny painting has a twin we will incorporate in the room in another spot later.

Vintage bunny rabbit oil painting with ornate frame

Okay now that you have two large spring-inspired pieces on your mantel, let's decorate with some smaller items starting with the other side of the mantel.

Think about height for the other side to balance the design. We thought a plant would look nice and we loved this herb plant but it wasn't high enough. If you ever have that problem simply gather some books and stack them under the plant and like magic now have height.

Whether you prefer fresh greenery or faux greenery, natural elements are ideal for a beautiful spring mantel.

Stack of books on mantel with an faux herb plant sitting on it

Now fill in between the taller pieces with smaller spring-inspired decorations. I recently bought this unique rabbit statue while traveling and since it is Easter time I thought it would be cute to set him on the mantel kind of like an Easter bunny statue but with a vintage twist.

Maybe you have bunny figurines you can use or can place anything here that has spring Easter inspiration.

Vintage rabbit sculpture with basket on his back and standing with a scarf around his neck

Next set an old crock, vase, candle holders or anything to fill in between if needed. Maybe you have a spring inspired metal art piece. This all depends on how wide your mantel is and if you have enough space.

Old vintage crock on a mantel for spring decorations

You're Almost There!

Now you have open space above all these smaller accessories up top and a fun decoration here is a hanging basket or you can use a three-dimensional piece like a sculpture, plate, or wood carving. We used this smaller basket from my woodworking area.

Old vintage hanging basket over a fireplace mantel

Can you keep a secret? Inside the basket are my safety goggles for when I do sawing and other tasks in my woodworking shop. LOL!

We had to dust this basket off of all its sawdust. What a great way to turn a practical item into seasonal decor.

Finishing Touches

Last, and this is one of my favorite parts, is to add a hanging basket on one end of your mantel shelf and fill it with spring flowers like these beautiful white flowers or cherry blossoms, whatever works with your color scheme.

You can cut flowers from your yard or use artificial ones. I have even cut flowers from the woods while going for my morning walks and used them in my spring decor.

Listen, adding something on the front is a little designer trick along with layering. These simple elements will make your mantel more unique than others.

Hanging basket on end of fireplace mantel filled with spring flowers of dogwood

All you need is a command hook or tiny nail and like magic, you can perch a hanging basket. Another idea to hang something on your mantel is a garland.

Here is an easy pom pom garland tutorial for your mantel. These are all great ways to finish off your pretty mantel.

From Mantel to Hearth

Now let's talk about your hearth. Many times people forget about the hearth but it is important to give it some springtime love too. We already had this crock on our fireplace hearth that we store wood and matches inside but we thought it was the perfect place to add this watering can to finish it off.

Garden watering can on hearth for decoration for spring

Now that your mantel is complete, think about sprinkling more decorations around your room like this lamb on our end table.

Spring table decoration of lamb

Isn't he adorable? We simply stacked a few books next to our plant and then set this farmhouse vintage lamb in front.

Next, we found the perfect spot for the sister bunny piece of art next to the fireplace by our mora clock. This is a great way to tie in decor from your wall next to your mantel to the decor over your mantel.

Shopping your home is an easy way to reflect your personal style and repurpose your home decor.

Bunny rabbit oil painting next a fireplace mantel decorated for spring

And now we are all finished and it is your turn. You can do this!!

Final Thoughts

See how this mantel transformed into spring using items from our home? Look at the shapes on this mantel when shopping your home for decorating and think about items that reflect spring, like bunnies, easter eggs, and gardening tools.

Spring decorating ideas for your fireplace mantel

You can also decorate your mantel with themes like a spring gardening mantel using gardening tools, fresh flowers, and more. Or you can decorate in a vintage style as we did or do a spring farmhouse mantel as we decorated years ago.

My style for the farmhouse spring mantel was a pastel cheerful minimalist farmhouse. LOL! That is a lot of words. But this year I went vintage because we love antiquing and wanted a vintage vibe.

Shopping your own home is a simple way to create a simple spring mantel and can be so much fun.

Now it is your turn. You can do this — I know you can! What spring colors do you favor? Comment below what style you're thinking of doing for a spring mantel and feel free to ask me any questions.

Good luck! I cannot wait to hear your spring mantel ideas and see your photos.

If you need more inspiration try these spring decor ideas or these farmhouse spring decoration ideas.

Happy Decorating!

This spring and summer consider having a vintage tea party picnic outside or inside. It's an easy event to plan for kids or adults and can include typical elements like tea sets, linens, and picnic baskets.

Vintage tea party picnic

During spring my daughter Savanna and I went to visit my great nieces to have a vintage tea party picnic. We gathered my Grandma Annis's tea set into an old picnic basket I found thrifting along with other nostalgic items and went out to play.

It was the perfect day except for a chance of rain. While making the picnic area it started to sprinkle and I thought this is it — we will have to pack up. But as soon as it started the rain stopped and we were able to have a sweet afternoon tea party.

Vintage Tea Party for Kids and Adults

When my daughters were growing up I believed you should get out your fancy china when serving dinner or having a party. If something breaks it is not the end of the world, I would always tell myself.

Today I am glad we did that. Vintage china should be used and loved. I have a few tea cups that have chips in them or broken lids, like my teapot, but I have so many wonderful memories of playing with my daughters.

Here is a list of what you will need to throw an old-fashioned tea party with your friends, family, and kids. This tea party is perfect for all ages.

Supplies for a Tea Party Picnic:

  • Vintage tea set (you can find them in thrift stores or online)
  • Blanket
  • Tablecloth
  • Picnic basket
  • Tray
  • Cake stand
  • Napkins
  • Small bunny decoration or anything cute that is small enough for a tray

Now that you have all your supplies, let's look for a level spot in your backyard or at the park for your picnic. We chose a field close to my niece's house and nestled our picnic next to this gorgeous tree. It was the perfect charming spot.

Shop these tea sets:

Tea Party Picnic Blankets

The first thing you want to place on the ground is a blanket but before you place your covering on the grass make sure there are no ants or anything sharp where you are setting up. Once you have a good spot picked out lay your blanket down.

I love layering blankets when picnicking. It makes everything look pretty and makes sitting on the ground softer. After we placed the blanket on the ground we laid the block print tablecloth, that we used in our southern bridal shower table, on a diagonal and then a small tea table linen over that.

Layered tea party picnic blankets and tablescloths

This tea table linen is an extra element we couldn't leave out because my husbands' mother, Ann, embroidered it years ago. It is another element to this vintage tea party that makes it more nostalgic with a gorgeous vintage look.

Picnic Basket and Tray Decor for Tea

Next, let's use the picnic basket and tray you used to carry all your tea party goodies in as serving pieces or makeshift tables. Depending on the number of people coming to the tea party will depend on where you place them.

Since we only have four of us celebrating tea together I chose to place the old strawberry picking tray on one corner with the basket next to it. Now let's start placing all the treats and the tea set.

Setting up for a tea party picnic using a strawberry picking tray to serve on

Tea Party Food Tray Decor

If you have been around me very long then you know I spend way more time on decor than I do making food so this girl likes to go the easy route when it comes to food. This means I am going to share my easy tea party food recommendation and a cute way to style it on your tray.

First, place a cake stand on one side and pick up a tiny cake from the grocery store. Then shop around for macarons. You can find them in the freezer section at some grocery stores or contact your local bakeries to see if anyone makes them.

Decorating for a tea party picnic with cake stand on a tray

I found these delicious macarons at a local baker called Bakeology and they were amazing little works of art. They also make them gluten and dairy free upon request which was a win-win.

So place your small cake on the plate along with the macarons. These decadent treats looked so pretty and dainty!

Tea party cake and macrons

Now add some flowers to your tray. We chose baby's breath because the petals are dainty just like this tea party and the white color would match any decorations. Simply place a clear jar with one batch of flowers from your local grocery store onto the tray.

Flower arrangement decorations for a tea party for kids and adults

Next place finger sandwiches on a white napkin along with other store-bought goodies like these waffle cookies. Our tea sandwiches were simple peanut butter and jelly but there are endless options.

Some favorites are cucumber sandwiches and crab sandwiches. Finish the look with a cute gold bunny or anything that has sweet and precious written all over it.

Adding cute decorations like gold bunnies to your tea party decor

I like to place all the food in one location and then the drinks in another. Also, make those napkins handy for the finger foods so I placed the napkins on the tray too.

Decorating with food for a tea picnic

Setting Up Your Vintage Tea Set

Now let's talk about where to set up the tea set. The perfect spot is the picnic basket. If you have a tray you can add it here too but we forgot to bring one so we used the top of the basket to hold the teapot, cream, and sugar dishes.

Vintage dogwood pattern tea set

Remember me saying earlier that my girls used to play with this tea set? You may notice here that we don't have a lid to the teapot. So glad my grown daughter, who probably is the one who broke the top, is now enjoying the tea set with her little cousins.

Well, guess what? You have everything set for the tea party so let's talk about the rest of the day.

Time to Enjoy your Tea Party

This tea party was a simple afternoon tea outdoors with just us and the little girls. But you can make this a larger tea party by adding more blankets and setting up everything on a table somewhere close.

Tea party picnic with kids

We sat our plates on the blanket and let the girls gather what treats they wanted while Savanna poured tea. We knew the girls love good old fashioned cold sweet tea so we simply poured that into the tea pot. You can make your choice of tea based on your and your guest's preferences but there is no rule that says it needs to be hot tea.

Decorating for a tea party picnic

They loved every minute of it and we had to fill the tea pitcher up several times. And they looked adorable holding their vintage teacup.

Our vintage tea party was a wonderful after school activity. The perfect opportunity to have fun and pass on a wonderful tradition.

Checking the teapot to see if it has any more time

The girls dressed up in white eyelet dresses we found at Walmart which can be used easily for Easter too.

Conclusion

It was such a pretty little tea party. The sun was behind the clouds and the temperature was just right. Our bellies were full and we were talking about packing up when all of a sudden we felt a few sprinkles of rain. Jumping to our feet, we started packing everything up when the rain started coming down.

We couldn't believe that the rain held off just enough for us to enjoy a short little outdoor picnic. We left in a frenzy, laughing in disbelief that it didn't rain while we were enjoying our afternoon tea. It made our perfect vintage tea party even more special. Here is another moment I want to make a core memory.

Vintage tea party decorating ideas

So now it is your turn. Shop your home or family members if they don't mind and put together an easy outdoor tea party picnic for your kids or friends. In today's world doing special things for others is so needed. And it will make you feel good too when you plan something for others that is also simple and seems like you spent a lot of time and money.

Vintage tea parties are the perfect chance to slow down and a great way to reconnect. The perfect tea party is the one everyone has fun at!

Let me know in the comments if you plan to have a tea party picnic with your friends or family. They are also a great option for a baby shower, Mother's day, birthdays or Valentine's Day. Today I am sharing an easy and inexpensive DIY dollar store spring tablescape. Spring is a great time to entertain and this table setting is perfect for Easter, Mother's day, summer, or spring. This bee-themed table will be the talk of the party.

DIY Dollar store spring bee themed tablescape with chamomile flowers, Dollar Tree gingham buffalo check chargers, white dishes, La Rochere bee glasses, Martha Stewart honey and bee napkins.

This easy DIY dollar store spring tablescape is probably the easiest and cheapest table decorations for family or small party I have come up with yet and it exudes happiness.

Most of this table is hand-crafted and Dollar Tree or dollar store items. I even have a new dollar store to introduce you to. More about that later but recently it came to my attention that many people don't know what a tablescape is so here is my definition of a tablescape.

WHAT IS A TABLESCAPE?

A tablescape is the same thing as table decorations or table settings for dinner, lunch, brunch, or breakfast. It is a table created for friends and family usually around themes like spring, fall, Christmas, and so on.

So now that you know what a tablescape is let's buzz over to this table setting where the design began with a honey bumble bee dinner napkin.

DIY DOLLAR STORE SPRING TABLESCAPE

To begin let's gather some materials. Here is a list of what you need.

What is Popshelf?

You may have noticed the flower jewelry dish by Popshelf and wondered what is Popshelf? Well, it is a new store concept by Dollar General. It brings a high-end look with a low price range. Most items in the store are under $5.00. They carry trendy home decor decorations, beauty supplies, arts and crafts, toys, specialty foods, cleaning supplies, and much more.

I was hooked after visiting the one in Atlanta. Pop Shelf has so many beautiful home decor items and I couldn't wait to share this jewelry dish on this tablescape with you.

HOW TO MAKE BUFFALO CHECK CHARGERS?

Before you get started creating this farmhouse garden-style table let's make the buffalo check chargers.

First sand the charger to rough up the finish. Then wipe it with a clean damp paper towel to remove any grit.

Next, paint one coat of chalk paint, acrylic, or any craft paint. Let that dry and add another coat if needed.

How to chalk paint a Dollar Tree charger

Now take 2″ painters tape and run a piece of tape down the center.

Next place another piece of painter's tape up against the first piece then lay another piece next to it.

How to paint a gingham pattern on a Dollar Tree charger

Remove the middle piece and repeat this step on the other side.

Painted buffalo check on Dollar Tree charger

Press down along the edges with your finger so that paint will not bleed under the tape. Once you tape is secure dry brush the blue-green color.

To dry brush simply dab your paintbrush into the paint. Just a tiny bit on the tip of the paint brush. Then dab the paintbrush on a paper towel or paper plate to remove some of the paint.

Then you lightly brush the paint between the pieces of tape. After you finish remove the tape and let it dry.

DIY Dollar store buffalo check pastel color charger

You can use a blow dryer to make the process go quicker. Once the paint is dry simply repeat what you did but turn the place 90 degrees and start taping and painting again.

Easy do it yourself chalk painted check charger

After you remove the tape and your chargers are good and dry it is time to set this spring bee-themed table setting.

DIY DOLLAR TREE SPRING BEE THEMED TABLE SETTING

Begin by placing the white board down the middle of the table then place all your pastel buffalo check chargers.

DIY dollar store spring tablescape with a garden bee design

Next, add your Dollar Tree white dinner plate and salad plate stacking them one on top of the other.

Easy DIY Dollar store spring garden tablescape

Now grab the adorable light blue honey bee Martha Stewart dinner napkin and place one in the middle of the Dollar Tree white salad plate.

Simple place setting with Martha Steward honey bee napkins DIY

Then sit the floral jewelry dish from Popshelf right in the middle.

DIY honey bee themed tablescape with Popshelf flower jewelry dish

Next, add your silverware. We used gold silverware that we purchased at an antique/thrift store but silver will work on this tablescape too.

DIY table decorations for spring

And last place your La Rochere glasses above the knife on the table. If you can spring for these Le Rochere bee glasses they are the icing on the cake. They are so bee-autiful and they are perfect for many other table settings like my garden party decoration ideas and this Thanksgiving dinner table setting.

EASY SPRING CHAMOMILE FLORAL CENTERPIECE

If you have a dark-colored table adding a white chalk-painted board will brighten up your centerpiece. I have used this white board on many tablescapes. You will find it to come in handy.

First, place your white board centered in the middle of the table. Then add painted clay pots that are wrapped with twine staggered on the white board.

I have direction on how to paint these pots to look old in my french country table setting idea post.

Once they are painted and dried wrap them in twine and place them on your board.

Next place a small mouthwash cup inside or anything that will fit inside that will hold water and put water in the cup.

I like to use filtered water from the fridge. It seems to keep flowers longer.

Next cut the stems on the flowers about 8″ long. I took a handful and cut them all together and then placed them down inside the pot with the cup inside.

Floral arrangement with chamomile flowers

After you finish filling the clay pots with chamomile cut a few other pieces of flowers and drop them around the clay pots as if they have fallen off of the flower arrangement.

Easy DIY spring centerpiece with vintage clay pots and chamomile flowers

I found it to be easier to bring the board and pots into my kitchen by doing the floral arranging. I found these flowers at Trader Joe's but here is a post on the best places to buy flowers if you don't have Trader Joe's.

Now you have a simple centerpiece for your spring bee table setting. Place your board and flower arrangement back in the middle of the table.

DIY spring floral farmhouse style centerpiece

See how easy this spring tablescape is to create and there are so many events and dinners you can create it for. And all ages will love it!!!

So let's take a look at the whole table now that every piece is set.

I almost forget to mention adding pillows to your chairs or bench. This is another detail that makes the bee inspired table decoration look cozy.

CONCLUSION

Now that you have a lovely table set for your family and friends let's talk about a gift for your guests.

One of my favorite things to do is give the top piece of the place setting to guests when they go home so share with your friends and family that they get to take home the Popshelf jewelry dish.

DIY dollar store spring tablescape using Pop Shelf jewelry dish on a spring place setting

If you have any guys at the party and maybe the flower dish is not their thing then tell them it makes a great gift to give to a loved one.

I mentioned other holidays this DIY dollar tree tablescape is good for and the most obvious is Easter since it is the heart of spring. A cute way to add a touch of Easter is to place grass in the dish and one speckled egg.

Another great idea is for Mother's day coming up. Wouldn't it be fun to celebrate all those women in your life who have played a part in mentoring you? Creating a spring bee table like that will make them feel so special.

I hope this inexpensive table setting has given you the inspiration to create a lovely table this spring.

Garden Party Decoration Ideas

Are you ready to create this special occasion lovely garden tablescape? I cannot wait to walk you through the steps. But before we jump into supplies think about a color theme and pick an outdoor space for your party.

Consider a spot that is level for your table. It will make things more comfortable for friends and family. The outdoor area I used was my back patio. It is just outside my back door and near my kitchen which will make life easier.

Next, since my outdoor table is inspired by rose pattern dishes I knew my color scheme would be pink and green. What is your color theme? Once you have your colour scheme let's grab some supplies and get started.

Garden party decoration ideas with a straw hat centerpiece, desert rose dishes, fine linens of pink and white, and laser cut letters of name of guest at each place setting.

What Do You Need For an Outdoor Garden Party?

Shop Supplies:

Outdoor Garden Party Decorations

So now that we have all our supplies let's jump right into setting up your table. But first, how do you make a garden party fun?

How Do You Make a Garden Party Fun?

Probably the most important aspect of making this garden party fun is checking the weather forecast. Find a warm day that has no rain. If there is one thing that will dampen your backyard garden party is rain.

Also, if it is a cloudy day with no rain that is even better but if the skies are clear find a shady spot for your table. To warm days can dampen a party too. It will make all the difference if your guests are shaded. However, if you have cool evenings in the forecast simply encourage your guests to dress warm.

Last, plan ahead and plan to have everything ready at least an hour before the guests arrive. A great way to have fun is when your guests arrive let go of anything that is exactly as planned and focus on your friends and family and enjoy their company.

If there is one thing that will make any party fun that is if the hostess is having fun. So enjoy your people.

Farmhouse Dining Table and French Bistro Chairs

Because this dining table is covered you can just about do anything for a table option however, if you are feeling in the mood to make a farmhouse table I have the perfect directions on my website. Or you can use simple picnic tables.

Farmhouse table and french folding bistro chairs on a back patio.

But if you are looking for something much easier consider a folding table or even a piece of wood held up with saw horses as we did at this nurse's graduation party.

Just like the table you have unlimited options for chairs. You can bring every dining chair, break nook table chair, makeup table chair, desk chair, and the list goes on. Or you can use french folding bistro chairs as I show here.

Farmhouse table with white linen and pink and white seersucker runner and french folding bistro chair

Layered Tablecloth

Now that you have your table in place let's start adding the beautiful tablecloths. I love being creative when planning out a table clothes. For this table, I used a white ruffled sheet. I put the ruffle on the end that people would see the most.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner

Next, I folded a piece of pastel pink and white striped seersucker fabric to act as a runner down the middle of the table.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner

If you have a dark table under the table cloth or sheet simply add another sheet under it to get that crisp white look.

Dessert Rose and White Plates

After your table linens are neatly on the table place your main plate which in my case was Franciscan Desert Rose. I picked these dishes because they go great with the garden party decoration look and they belonged to my mom.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes

Once you have your main plates on the table then site a white salad plate in the middle.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes with a white salad plate in the middle

Stemless Champagne Flutes and Silverware

Let's start with the silverware. Begin by placing the knife on the right and the spoon next to it. Then place the fork on the left. I like to line up my silverware along with the bottom of the plate making sure the plate is close to the edge of the table.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes with a white salad plate in the middle. Then add silverware.

Next on this garden themed tablescape list are the stemless champagne flutes. I particularly like using the wine glasses because they are narrow and do not take up much room which on this small table space is a premium. Plus clear glasses will look pretty with a cold drink like the lemonade recipe I mention at the end

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes with a white salad plate in the middle. Then add champagne glasses

Simply place the glasses just above the knife on the table.

Garden Party Place Setting Idea

Now we are getting to the good part and that is the garden party place setting feel for each guest. I love creating something custom and something that each guest can take home.

For this garden party design, I placed a linen napkin folded in thirds and then folding the top down. I placed the napkin in the center of the plate with the tail handing down over the side of the plate and table.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes with a white salad plate in the middle with a folded linen napkin and a wooden laser cut name of guest.

Then I sat a lovely laser cut name party favors for each guest onto the folded part of the linen napkins. Everyone will have a special something to take home.

Garden Party Centerpiece

This is where decorating a table for a family gets fun! And the best part about this great garden party centerpiece is its simplicity and fresh flowers. It is a good idea to wait just before guest arrive to place the fresh roses on the centerpiece.

This easy to make garden themed centerpiece focal point starts with a flat brim straw hat that has a rim around the edge. Simply place the garden straw hat in the middle of the table. Then take some jasmine vines or any green leaf vine will do and sprinkle the vine around the hat.

Garden party decoration ideas using a straw hat as a centerpiece with fresh green vine around the brim of the hat.

Next cut some roses off from the stem and place them around the hat. There are different varieties of roses you can choose or you can use any kind of fresh flower.

Garden party decoration ideas using a straw hat as a centerpiece with fresh green vine around the brim of the hat and fresh pink roses.

I used some roses from my sister's garden which make this centerpiece even more special because she has always been a mother figure in my life.

And before you know it your garden party table is complete. The best part about this table is that you probably have all the pieces in your home and you don't have to go to the store.

Garden party decoration ideas using a straw hat as a centerpiece with fresh green vine around the brim of the hat and fresh pink roses.

Another fun idea if you have enough roses is to add a rose to each place setting. This really gives it a garden party tablescape feel.

Garden Themed Party Ideas

Okay so now you have the basics for an easy garden party idea so let's think about all the events you can create this secret garden table design around. You can use it for garden parties for adults like bridal showers and birthdays. Or you can use it for a summer sit-down dinner outside or a spring lunch or brunch.

This tablescape would be great for Mother's day, a kids tea party, Valentine's Day, Easter and so much more.

Easy Easter place setting and centerpieces for your dinner table that can be created in a snap. This is a great place to start curating ideas for a simple tablescape for Easter Sunday.
Easter place setting and centerpieces

I am so excited to share with you my Easter place setting ideas and centerpieces from past Easters in my home. One of my favorite parts about the holidays is the table decorations.

Easter Place Settings

At our house, my hubby is usually in charge of holiday food, probably because I am most concerned about the decorations. If only the Easter bunny would take care of the decor when he fills the baskets, then maybe I would have been a better Easter Sunday cook. Haha!

Chocolate Bunny Place Setting

Easter place setting with l layered white dishes, delicate floral trimmed china, pink and white striped ticking dish towel monogrammed, blue Easter grass, chocolate bunny in the middle and a white bow.

Let's start with one of my first Easter place settings that I created for the blog.

One thing I always think about first when creating a place setting is the decorative piece in the middle. Sometimes it is a sprig of rosemary or just a neatly folded napkin, but this Easter the star was a real chocolate bunny.

I mean who would not love to have an adorable piece of confectionary on their plate?

To build this Easter place setting simply start with a large white serving plate on the bottom. You can use one that has a ruffle look around the edge or a lace design like this one. But if you love a more simple design then a white charger will do too.

Next, add a beautiful pastel-colored dishtowel. This dishtowel I had monogrammed with our family initial but just a simple towel will do.

Easter place setting with l layered white dishes, delicate floral trimmed china, pink and white striped ticking dish towel monogrammed, blue Easter grass, chocolate bunny in the middle and a white bow.

Now follow with a dinner plate that is white or one with a delicate flower design. Think about spring if you are going to use a pattern on your plate. Look for pastels or beautiful spring colors.

Okay so here is the really fun part! Add some Easter grass on your plate then unwrap your chocolate bunny and sit him on the grass. Last make a bow and set the bow on the bunnies neck.

Easter place setting with l layered white dishes, delicate floral trimmed china, pink and white striped ticking dish towel monomogrammed, blue Easter grass, chocolate bunny in the middle and a white bow.

You do not need to tie the bow to the bunny. In fact, I found it laid better to just sit the bow on his neck.

Rae Dunn Place Setting

Easter centerpiece of a dough bowl filled with white grass, speckled eggs and a silver bunny mold in the middle. And Rae Dunn Easter place settings.

Remember me mentioning that these designs are easy to create? Well, this one is very easy and inexpensive.

If you have a decorative and fun centerpiece then you don't necessarily have to go all out on the place setting.

This place setting is a white plate found at Walmart and a small Rae Dunn plate found at TJ Maxx. Because I put so much into the centerpiece I decided to downplay the place setting but I still wanted it to be special.

At this dinner, each guest will get to take home the Rae Dunn “eat” plate.

So now that we have a few ideas for the Easter place setting, let's talk about how do you set an Easter table.

How Do You Set An Easter Table?

Honestly, there are no rules for setting an Easter table. However, there are traditional foods and some traditional decorations.

Some popular decorations are bunnies, chicks, a cross, dyed Easter eggs, baskets, grass and so on. And there are many wonderful and delicious traditional foods. But I am not going into that territory. I will leave that to my friend Mel who has a whole post full of 50+ traditional Easter dinner menu ideas.

And as far as how to set the table I would stay with customary rules for setting a table. Plate in the middle with a knife and spoon to the right and fork to the left. You can put the napkin to the right of the spoon or on the plate.

Easter Centerpieces

So now that we have had some fun with the place setting ideas here are a few Easter centerpieces that will bring joy to your table.

Keeping with the easy and simple plan for your Easter table grab another serving plate, pie plate, Easter grass, decorative eggs, and another chocolate bunny.

Chocolate Bunny Centerpiece

Easter centerpiece of layered dishes, bright colored grass, chocolate bunny, glass eggs.

This Easter centerpiece pairs really nice with the chocolate bunny place setting. All you need to do is stack the layers with the serving place first, then the piece plate, Easter grass, decorative eggs and top it all off with a chocolate Easter bunny.

Just talking about this is inspiring me to create more fun ideas with chocolate Easter bunnies. They are so cute!!!

Easter centerpiece of layered dishes, bright colored grass, chocolate bunny, glass eggs.

Okay, so think about multiple colors of Easter grass to make a bright and cheery color scheme. Once you have the grass in place, nestle the chocolate bunny into the grass and surround him with the decorative eggs.

I found these eggs at the dollar tree years ago but I have seen them in dollar bins since then.

Dough Bowl Easter Centerpieces

Easter centerpiece of a dough bowl filled with white grass, speckled eggs and a silver bunny mold in the middle. And Rae Dunn Easter place settings.

I love using grass in centerpieces for Easter. You can just about pull any bowl out of your cupboard or china cabinet and fill it with grass and goodies and you have a centerpiece or table decoration.

For this Easter centerpiece, pull out your vintage or antique dough bowl. Fill it with some white grass, I searched for grass that was not shiny, and add the grass to your bowl. Then place a vintage or antique bunny rabbit mold in the middle.

Easter centerpiece of a dough bowl filled with white grass, speckled eggs and a silver bunny mold in the middle.

Once you have the bunny in place sprinkle some speckled eggs around the bunny for decorations. I found these eggs at Target and I believe they still have them this year.

Natural Easter centerpiece of a dough bowl filled with timothy hay and wooden eggs

Another idea with a dough bowl is this one I created a few years ago. It has a more natural, country vibe to it.

Simply take your dough bowl and drop some timothy hay at the bottom. You can find timothy hay in any pet store or pet section at Walmart, Target or a grocery store.

Natural Easter centerpiece of a dough bowl filled with timothy hay and wooden eggs

Once you have the hay nestled down in the bottom lay some wooden eggs on top of the hay. This is a very simple project. You can even change out the wooden eggs with hard-boiled eggs.

Easter Tiered Tray Centerpieces

Easter tiered tray design filled with bunnies, eggs, grass, dish towels, wooden beads and more.

Tiered trays are so popular these days and what a charming way to add style to your Easter table than with an Easter tiered tray centerpiece.

For this project, you will need a tiered tray. You can buy one from places like Amazon or make one as I demonstrated on how to make a tiered tray.

If you do not have a tiered tray you can use some household items to create a two or three-tiered tray like I show on styling tiered trays.

So now you have a tiered tray all you need to do is place small Easter decorative items on the tray then fill in with greenery, Easter grass, and flowers.

A great place to look for tiered tray items is Etsy, dollar spot at Target, Dollar tree and so on. I also like to look through my Easter box of decorations.

Isn't it fun to pull out your decorations each year only to be surprised by things you forgot you had in the antique?

When to Put Up Easter Decorations?

Speaking of pulling down your decorations and going through it for items for your tiered tray let's talk about when is a good time to put up Easter decorations.

I personally feel it is okay to start decorating for spring and Easter right after Valentine's day. I like to put out one bunny within all my everyday decorations or change out a piece of art for an Easter piece of art.

This reminds me, this month my free printable to anyone who subscribes to the newsletter is a piece you can use for art.

Bunny Wreath Free Printable

Brown bunny sitting inside a garland of leaves and pastel flowers. A free printable for art, cards, decoration and more.

Isn't she adorable!

We have named her Bella because a friend of mine has a bunny that looks just like her and her name is Bella. Plus Bella means beautiful and this is one beautiful bunny.

So feel free to add this sweet piece of art to your decorations this Easter. Simply sign up for the newsletter and you will get a link to the free printable library.

Spring Farmhouse Decor

If you know me you know that I am not a fan of winter so when spring comes it brings out the decorator in me.

And I love love love to share ideas, how to projects and inspiration so let's hop right into these ideas for spring and Easter.

Mantel

Every mantel should get a refresh in the spring.  There are many spring mantel decorating ideas but here is one that is simple and easy.

spring farmhouse decor mantel

Begin with finding a piece of art that can be used throughout the year.

spring farmhouse decor home definition art

This home definition piece from Kirkland's was perfect for any season.  In fact, any word art over your mantel adds a timeless design. Then simply add some lanterns or tall candles on the side for a symmetrical look.

spring farmhouse decor

And last find some spring sprigs like these and lay them on opposite sides of each other and add a big white floppy bow. Now that we have the mantel completed let's jump to my foyer where I love to give you bench ideas. Get more ideas for your mantel in my Decorating a Mantel for Spring post.

Foyer Bench

It is always good to give your entryway a little spring home decor.  It is the second place that welcomes guests and adds to the hint of what is inside your home.

spring farmhouse decor bench idea

We love bunnies around here, in fact, we have a pet bunny named Eugene who hangs around our house.  So, we naturally add bunnies to our spring home decor.

spring farmhouse decor vintage bunny

To decorate your bench add something tall to one side like this vintage rabbit.  You can use a tall piece of art here or a statue.

spring farmhouse decor

Think layers when you are working on decorating your bench

Start with the top layer which is my garland and bunny, then come down to another layer which is my pillows and hat.

Then the bottom layer which is the floor.  You can put just about anything on the floor.  I used my French market basket and filled it with lambs ear plants.

Now that your entryway is finished let's go to my kitchen sitting area.

Products from Amazon.com

Kitchen Sitting Area

Adding a little bit of spring decor here and there is also a great idea.  I like to go all out and transform one or two areas but then sprinkle a few things here and there in other places.

spring farmhouse decor end table idea

In my kitchen sitting area, I decided to do more layering on my side table.

So, let's talk about the simple changes you can make to get a more impressive DIY spring decor look. Like on the bench thinking about your accessorizing in layers or heights.

Spring farmhouse decor idea on an end table

Here we have a tall french water pitcher holding some spring flowers from Target.  Then you come down a layer and you will find three accessories making up more layers.

Now let's go to our informal dining table for a Spring centerpiece without flowers and more.

Products from Amazon.com

Dining Table

Our table in the main living area is where we do everything from eating to homework to DIY projects. For a table that has this much traffic, it is good to create a centerpiece that is is easy to move.

Spring centerpieces without flowers are much easier to maintain until Easter is over which is why I wanted to create a DIY idea that anyone can use.

Begin with a dough bowl, tray or anything that is flat on the bottom.

Spring farmhouse decor dining table centerpiece

Next, find a tall piece to go in the middle.

I found this rabbit mold at TJ Maxx and fell in love with his vintage vibe.

Next spring some Easter grass around him and top the grass off with eggs.

Spring farmhouse decor centerpiece

And there you have an easy Spring centerpiece that is easy to move whenever you need the whole table for project, food, and such.

Chalkboard Easter Art

Last on my list is to add some spring decor to your chalkboard if you have one.

Spring farmhouse decor chalkboard art

Find a design on Pinterest or Google to recreate on your board.  We loved this bunny design so much so my daughter Hannah drew it out on our vintage chalkboard.

Keeping a chalkboard around your home is a great inexpensive way to add art and change it by seasons or holidays.

Conclusion

Well, now that everything is blooming outside I feel like the inside of our home is blooming too.

I hope these spring DIY ideas will help you bring some sunshine to your home too.

And if you want more inspiration you will love our Spring front porch decorating ideas from other bloggers.

As the weather gets warmer and flowers start blooming it is a great time for spring porch decorating ideas.

Spring Porch Decorating Ideas

Our home has a small front porch, and I love sharing tips and tricks on how to make it look larger, but I love even more bringing some front porch decorating ideas for spring in a farmhouse southern style.

So, let's get started with these five small front porch ideas on how to decorate your front porch for spring?

How Do I Decorate My Front Porch for Spring?

There are five things you can do to decorate your front porch for spring here is what you will need and we will break it down more with details later.

Shop the post:

How do I decorate my front porch for spring?

Before you begin give your porch a good cleaning and touch up any paint.

spring porch decorating ideas begin with cleaning

Because I repainted my door last year and wrote a post about how to paint your front door without removing it, all I had to do this spring is touch up the paint in tiny places.

Now that you have a clean slate, pun intended, let's jump into the five things every small front porch needs for spring.

Spring Decorating Ideas for Front Door

Like most designs, it is best to start with a focal point or a piece that inspires the whole space.

For our porch that focus piece is this boho wreath by The Whimsical Door.

spring porch door decorating ideas with boho floral wreath

Doesn't it whisper softly that is spring is here?

Using a wreath on any size porch is acceptable.  A wreath draws a person's eye up and welcomes them with a smile.  If you love to make wreaths then my how to make a heart shaped wreath is a great place to start.

Now that we have spring decorating ideas for front door let's talk about the porch floor.

DIY Spring Layered Rugs

I have a confession to make.

I love layered rugs!!

spring porch decorating ideas with layered rugs for your doormat

Layered rugs are not a necessity but layering rugs will bring more character to your small front porch.

To keep the small front porch budget-friendly make your bottom rug with a drop cloth, stencil, and outdoor acrylic paint.

I have a post on how to make a drop cloth rug but this drop cloth I bleached for eight hours in my washing machine on hot.  It came out nice and white.  I cut it to the size I wanted and hemmed the edges with heat and bond hem tape.

Isn't that impressive and no-sew rug too!! 🙂

Then I used a stencil that I received from Stencil Revolution called Bjorn tile stencil to create the design, but this time I used outdoor acrylic paint in grey which holds up just as good as chalk paint.

Once you have your bottom rug in place pick out your top mat or make your top rug.

If you cannot find what you want I have a post on how to design your own doormat.  But if you want one like my, “all are welcome here” rug you can find it at Target.

Spring Plants, Planters, and Flower Container Garden Ideas

Okay so now you have your wreath and rugs it is time to add even more spring porch decorating ideas.

What says spring more than flowers?

spring porch decorating ideas with plants, flower and pots in a container garden

To make your porch feel larger think about using a taller planter for your main container garden.  If you are a little intimidated by container gardening then do not worry because I have part one and part two on sensational flower container gardening.

You will be amazed at how simple container gardening is.

Now you have one pot created that is taller next go for something shorter.

spring porch decorating ideas with plants, flower, Rae Dunn and pots

For the shorter pot of flowers, I used a bucket from the dollar spot at Target.

Honestly, you can find a bucket anywhere like this cute galvanized bucket but you will need to make some holes in the bottom, and I show you how to do that in the video in my container gardening post.

Spring Flower Box or Wall Art for Front Porch

Last Christmas I changed out my planter for wall art.  You can see what I did in my Christmas front porch decor post.

But for this spring small front porch idea, I decided to bring back my iron flower box.

spring farmhouse porch decorating ideas with iron wall flower box

But this time I spray painted it white and added some aging with some Dixie Belle glaze.

spring porch decorating ideas with iron wall flower box

Naturally, dry brush it on with random strokes here and there.

I added white flowers to the box so that they wouldn't take away from the wreath being the focal point.

One thing to keep in mind with a pastel-colored wreath is that you have to keep the colors around it toned down.  If what is on the floor and walls is too bright it will overpower the colors in the wreath.

spring porch decorating ideas with iron wall flower box

Spring Front Porch Accessories

Well, we have talked about the door wreath, planters, and flowers, wall art or flower box, rugs and now for some finishing touches.

I would say these are the icing on the cake, but honestly, just about every element on this small front porch is like icing.

I mean seriously it is so springy and delicious until I want to spend the rest of the day there. 🙂

Okay so to add some accessories to this space I decided to bring outside a little Rae Dunn with these gardening tools.

spring porch decorating ideas with potted plant in metal bucket and Rae Dunn gardening tools

Aren't these adorable?!

spring porch decorating ideas with potted plant in metal bucket and Rae Dunn gardening tools

You can do this same idea with any gardening tools.

Another fun way to add accessories is with statues.

spring porch decorating ideas with dog statue holding a basket of flowers

Our little starving dog has been guarding our house for years.  Because his pot does not have any holes and I am afraid it will break if I try to make some I decided to sit the pot in his mouth.

Don't forget to add a few subtle accessory elements.  It will bring your whole design together.

Conclusion

Like with every small space always let your negative space play a big part in your design.  Allowing light to travel under and around things will always make a room look larger especially a tiny porch like mine.

I hope this spring porch idea inspires you to create a welcoming space for your family and friends.

Images of porches always inspire me to want to start decorating.
