Today let's talk about this easy Friendsgiving table setting that looks challenging but is pretty simple. This Thanksgiving table made for friends can be used for any fall or autumn occasion, but we are focusing on friends for this post.

Friendsgiving table setting

Last year my niece borrowed my Thanksgiving table decorations for her Friendsgiving party so this year, I thought it would be fun to create a Friendsgiving table setting that looks fancy and includes easy cleanup.

Friendsgiving Table Setting

This year I enlisted the help of Joanna Gaines' Hearth and Hand foliage for this table, battery-powered candles, and Spode china paper plates. But before we look over the shopping list, you might ask what is Friendsgiving?

What is Friendsgiving?

Friendsgiving is a Thanksgiving celebration with friends rather than a traditional family gathering. Typically the decor and food are similar, but the only difference is the guests. This time of year is perfect to celebrate good friends. No matter who is on your guest list, this table setting will be a hit.

Friendsgiving Table Setting Supplies

How to Set a Friendsgiving Table

Friendsgiving Tablecloth

If you've been following me for a while, you know I often use blankets as tablecloths, but this time, I chose to go with a lovely Gingham tablecloth, sometimes called buffalo check, in beautiful fall colors. You can layer your tablecloth with another set at a diagonal or table runner. I decided to go with the single layer for this particular table setting.

Friendsgiving Centerpiece

Your guests' eyes will be drawn to the center of the table and your Friendsgiving table decor. I created this beautiful centerpiece using items I already had on hand. I used this hanging basket from my front door and laid it on the table. Then I took the fall foliage from my mantel, placed it in the basket, and let it flow out. Look around your home, you're likely to find just what your need for your table decor idea.

I placed sheer 1 1/2″ white ribbon through and over the basket to the other side. These little details are what make your centerpiece stand out.

I finished the look with some mini pumpkins on either side, placing two on the end that don't have the foliage to create interest. I sprinkled a few acorns that I picked up with my little nephew on our walk. We had so much fun! It's a great way to get the kids involved.

Finally, I added brass candlesticks and battery powered taper candles. I love these battery powered taper candles because I can leave them on as long as I like, and the best part is I don't have to worry about messy wax.

Did you notice the little swan? I found him at Goodwill and just fell in love. He's such a sweet addition to the centerpiece. You can find similar wooden swans here. I love fun decor pieces like this!

Friendsgiving Place Settings

I started with a white charger that I got at Dollar Tree. For those unfamiliar, a charger takes the place of a place mat. The chargers were gold when I bought them, and I painted them white (I used Dixie Belle chalk paint). If you do this, don't worry about making it perfect. Even if you can see some gold through it, it gives it a nice distressed look.

I found these beautiful Spode Thanksgiving paper plates and matching decorative napkins (I found mine at TJ Maxx, but they are on Etsy too). It's an easy way to achieve an elegant look. I trailed the napkin off the side and placed the paper dinner plate in the center of the charger. Not only are these plates and napkins beautiful, but they also make cleanup a snap.

I used my Mother's Michaelangelo silverware. The design on it really complements the design on the plates. I finished off the place settings with stemless champagne flutes. The simple, slender glass is perfect next to the busy plate design. Each place setting is simple yet elegant.

One Last Detail

I love to finish off my table design with something on the bench. This year, I'm using a white faux fur rug. It's the perfect way to keep your guests cozy. It's soft and comfortable and is warm to sit on. The little details like this are what make your Friendsgiving dinner special.

Final Thoughts

I hope you've found this Thanksgiving table setting helpful and that it's given you ideas for your own Friendsgiving celebration or Thanksgiving dinner party this holiday season. It's sure to make this special occasion feel extra special. I love that this set would work just as well on an outdoor table as your dining room table. Here are a few other beautiful table setting designs I think you'll love:

I'd love to hear about your Friendsgiving table ideas or Thanksgiving day traditions. Whatever you do to celebrate, I hope you have a wonderful time!

Learn how to make this easy fall paper decoration of a leaf garland. Made from different colors of paper and other items from the Dollar Tree. A simple fun fall craft that takes a few hours and looks amazing added to your autumn decorations.

DIY fall paper leaf garland

Last year I made this fall paper decoration leaf garland. I wanted to add one more garland to my hutch that gave it a warm autumn vibe and I think it did the trick. So this year when I brought it down from the attic I thought I really need to share these DIY paper leaves with you.

I mean seriously! It is one of those easy fall crafts to make and looks amazing! A great beginner's fall crafting skills project. Let's get started making this simple craft together starting with collecting all your supplies.

This post contains affiliate links, meaning I receive a commission if you purchase using the links below at no extra cost to you. All opinions are all my own.

DIY Fall Paper Decoration Leaf Garland

With all my DIY projects I recommend collecting all your craft supplies before getting started. It is the worse when you get into a project and you realize you have to go to the store to pick up one more thing. Here is a list of what you will need to make this a paper leaf garland.

DIY Fall Paper Leaf Garland

You can change the colors of paper to any fall colors. That is the nice thing about this project. Feel free to make it any color you like. Now that you have all your supplies let's get started making your fall leaves garland.

How to Make a Paper Fall Leaf Garland

Start by printing out the leaf pattern. After you subscribe to my newsletter you will get an email with access to my free printables. Once you receive that link simply scroll down to the fall section and you will find the leaf printable. Print more than one page if you have a friend or family member who is helping you cut leaves.

How do you Make Paper Leaves in the Fall

Begin cutting all the paper leaves out from the leaf template. There are three leaf shapes to cut out in three different sizes so make sure to cut out all three.

Cutting template for fall paper leaf garland

Then use one of the leaves you have cut out and cut 25 leaves with 8 of each size leaf. Another way to put is to cut 8 white small leaves, 8 white medium leaves, and then 8 white big leaves. See what I am talking about? Repeat this step with the darker brown and the light brown.

Cut leaves for fall paper garland

For fun on this leaf garland craft, you can add a piece of paper of the printable design. I noticed in my old one I added one age of the printed leaves. You can be creative with your garland by using other gorgeous colors or printing all the leaves and making an all-white leaf garland. After you cut all the autumn leaves it will look like this.

Fall leaf template for garland
.

Measure Leaf Garland Vine

Now that you have all your leaves cut and they are ready to be applied to your vine you first need to determine how long you want your garland vine to be. A simple way to do that is to grab your vine from the Dollar Tree and drape it out where you want it to hang.

Fall leaf paper garland decoraiton

Once you figure how low you want it then mark with your hand where to cut the vine.

Determining where to cut the vine for a fall leaf paper garland

If your vine is plastic like my first one was all you need is scissors but if it has a wire inside like the one we are working on now you will need wire cutters. Also, give yourself an extra inch or two on each end of the vine. This way you will have enough to tie it or bend it around a nail or command hook.

By the way, my first leaf paper garland was made from this Dollar Tree leaf garland. All I did was pull all the leaves off. This time I am using this vine that has wire in it. I have it linked in the supply list above.

Glue Wire to Paper Leaf

Now for the fun part and that is adding a stem to the paper leaves. We are going to use the small leaf as an example first. Start by cutting about 3″ of wire. If the wire is thin enough you can cut it with scissors too but keep in mind it may dull your scissors but it is possible.

Cut the wire for a paper leaf garland

Next using your glue gun put some hot glue along the first couple of inches of the wire.

Add glue to wire to attach to a paper leaf

And then place the wire to the leaf making sure you have an extra inch hanging off so you can bend it around the vine. You will repeat these steps for the other size leaves but adding an inch or two cut wire.

Paper leaf garland with wire and glue gun glue

Attaching Leaves to Vine for Fall Paper Garland

This is where our leaf garland starts taking shape. Beginning on one end bend the stem wire around the vine of one size and color of a leaf garland.

It helps me to have all my leaves in some sort of order meaning all the small white leaves in one stack and then all the small white medium leaves next and so on. I showed a photo at the beginning where I had them in some sort of order.

As you apply the leaves to the garland vine use your organization to know where to pull from next. But change it up now and then because just like nature you don't want it to be a perfect order unless you want it to be in perfect order.

I place my leaves about one inch apart like in this photo. It doesn't have to be perfectly one inch but enough to give the leaves a little bit of breathing room.

Bend wire around the stem

When you get to the end of the vine remember to leave yourself an inch or so of the vine. And now guess what? You are all finished making your DIY fall decorations.

Conclusion

I love easy and cheap home DIY decorations and this fall paper decoration of a leaf garland fits perfectly. There are so many ways you can add this home decor fall decoration. I strung my garland on my hutch.

Fall paper leaf garland on an old hutch

In the beginning, I showed it on my hutch last year but this photo is from this year. You can tell the difference by the colors of the leaves and the dishes in my hutch.

Other simple ideas are a piece of furniture, hanging on a mantel or on hooks. I have a row of hooks in my laundry room.

Fall paper decorations in a laundry room

It would be so cute hanging in any room of your home. You could also hang it on a wall anywhere or on a bench decorated for fall.

Fall paper decoration leaf garland on a bench

But probably my favorite way to use the leaf garland is on a tablescape. I used it on this easy Thanksgiving table decoration and in this DIY outdoor Halloween party table decorations. This is our Thanksgiving dinner table design for this year.

Talk about an easy DIY table runner. I just pulled it down from my hutch and placed it on the dining room table.

Fall paper decorations leaf garland

I used last year's garland which was made with white printer paper, brown craft paper, and light brown crepe paper. I stored my paper leaf garland by gently placing it down inside of a brown paper bag and sitting it in my attic with nothing near the bag. It is so lightweight until when I pulled it out of the bag I had minimal fluffing to do.

Some of the tissue paper was crumpled so I hope this year's leaf garland will come out looking even better since there is no crepe paper.

I love paper crafts! They are cheap to make and a fun project. Did you enjoy these fall decor ideas using a paper leaf garland?

I hope you have fun making this paper leaf garland. This is a great project for a craft night too. Check out more fall fun with my cozy and clever DIY Fall decor ideas. Let's take it back to the pioneer period with these easy Thanksgiving table decorations. This fall Thanksgiving tablescape is simple to make using items you probably have lying around your house like mini pumpkins and old books. It is perfect for Friendsgiving and a pilgrim Halloween dinner too.

Easy Thanksgiving table decorations

When my girls were growing up we used to love pretending we were pioneers and eating dinner by chamber oil lamps. We would turn off the lights and light the lanterns and each by the fire.

This was such a great memory until I thought it would be fun to create easy Thanksgiving table decorations in a Cottagecore pioneer spirit.

This post contains affiliate links, meaning I receive a commission if you purchase using the links below at no extra cost to you. All opinions are all my own.

Easy Thanksgiving Table Decorations

Whenever I create a table for an event I usually decorate the day. It takes one less thing off your list the day of the event. So let's grab some supplies and get started.

Thanksgiving Table Settings Supplies

I love to shop my own home when working on table decorations so try shopping your home, your mom's, aunts, sister, brothers, or anyone who loves sharing their decor.

Shop supplies:

Here are a few notes about the supply list. I show two options for the place setting decorations so read till the end to decide if you want the mini pies or small pumpkin. Also, most of my items came from thrift stores, dollar stores, and my house. I will explain more later.

Fall Tablescape with a Pioneer Pilgrim Vibe

Have you figured out yet that I love decorating the table for Thanksgiving day more than cooking the food? LOL! We leave the food prep to my hubby who does an amazing job.

Now let's begin on the bottom layer of this table with a blanket. Yes, you heard me right. We are going to use a blanket for a table cloth. I love using blankets, sheets, or anything large enough to fit over a table. I used a knit blanket one time in this hygge beautiful Thanksgiving table setting and I used a chambray blanket with fringe on this outdoor farmhouse Thanksgiving dinner table.

I think you get the picture. Grab a plaid blanket and lay it along the center of your table.

Thanksgiving tablescape with plaid blanket

Now take a runner and lay it across your table in the opposite direction. This neutral-colored table runner is homemade from a dropcloth. I have directions on how to sew a ruffled table runner if you would like to make one too.

Drop cloth runner for fall table

Next grab a piece of white painted wood and lay it over the table runner. I have used that piece of wood on so many tables. It is handy to keep around. It also comes in handy on a coffee table, buffet, or anywhere you want to elevate your decorations.

Fall tablescape table linen layering

Now that we have the table linens set let's move on to decorations.

DIY Thanksgiving Centerpiece

This easy centerpiece revolves around chamber oil lamps. You can find them in thrift stores and online like Amazon and Walmart. First, sit two or three neutral-colored books in the center of the table. This will elevate the middle oil lamps.

Now place three oil lamps on the wooden runner and books. Space them apart so you can lay a fall garland in the middle. (You will notice I don't have the books on the table here. I didn't add the book until later but make sure to add your books here)

Chamber lamps for a autumn tablescape centerpiece

Fall Garland Gorgeous Centerpiece

Next, grab your fall garland or make an autumn paper leaf garland from Dollar Tree and grocery store items as I did. You can find all the details in this DIY paper leaf garland post.

Weave your fall foliage from one end of the table and around the glass lamps to the other end. The fall leaves warm up this beautiful centerpiece but we are not quite finished.

Fall paper decorations

I added the books at this point.

easy Thanksgiving tablescape

Next place your brass candlesticks and white candles nestling them into the leaf shape garland. One on one side and the other on the other side.

Thanksgiving tablescape with brass candlesticks

I love making easy Thanksgiving centerpieces. This perfect centerpiece looks complicated but it is actually only layers. Give this DIY Thanksgiving centerpiece a try. Now let's work on the place settings.

Thanksgiving Place Settings

To me, the place setting is another place to create a centerpiece but this center piece is more personal to each of your guests or family members which I why I always like to give them a little gift or treat here.

One of my favorite tables — hygge Thanksgiving table I mentioned earlier I used mini pies. Looking back this was my all-time favorite place setting Thanksgiving decorations. However, if you want other ideas consider mini pumpkins or pine cones would be cute too.

But before we dive too far into the place setting decoration let's build your place setting dishes.

Dinnerware

Start with a simple white plate. I bought mine at the Dollar Tree but you can find them at any dollar store. Sit each white plate on the table in front of each chair.

Autumn colored Thanksgiving tablescape

It helps me when placing the plates to make sure the chairs are pushed in and in their right position so I can sit a place center in front of the chair and pulled to the edge of the table.

Next place a wooden plate on the white plate. Using a wooden plate helps bring another pioneer pilgrim element. I can imagine the early pilgrims probably made most of their utensils out of wood they carved so a wooden plate fit in perfectly.

Wooden plate on white plate for Thanksgiving table

Glassware and Silverware

Follow by placing the silverware and then a Moscow mule cup or mug. I am not sure what exactly our forefathers drank out of but my guess is they brought some sort of cup with them over on the Mayflower. I just happened to have these Moscow mules in my husband's mom's cedar chest so they were a perfect fit.

Silverware for Pioneer table

I also loved how the copper color matched the color in the plaid blanket table cloth.

Moscow mule mug for Thanksgiving dinner

Homemade Mini Pies or Mini Pumpkin Fall Place Setting Centerpiece

Next, you need something to sit in the middle of the wood plate as a place setting decorations. We have two different ways to style this — mini pies or mini white pumpkins. Here is a photo of the small pumpkins.

You can use faux pumpkins or real pumpkins. Both look amazing!

Mini pumpkins place setting decorations

If you like to homemade pie look then grab your miniature pies. Traditional pies to use are pumpkin pie, apple pie, or pecan pie. Walmart had all but the pumpkin pie option at my store but I wouldn't put it past them to offer the pumpkin pie too.

Now take a pair of scissors and cut into the flour sack dish towels. Then tear the rest down to the other end. If the seam stops you from tearing use your scissors to cut into it. Also, if it doesn't seem to tear easily or nicely turn the fabric around and try again from the other side.

Cut fabric to tie around a mini pie

When tearing fabric you have to be tearing it with the grain and not against it. You may need to try it from several directions.

Now tie one piece of fabric around the tiny pie and tie it into a sailor's knot. You can add a name card under the tie if you want to include a place card.

Thanksgiving mini pie decoration

Then set it in the center of the wooden plate.

Mini pie fall place setting decoration

Yay! Now you are all finished with your table setting. Last toss some pillows on your bench. This is optional for comfort and looks but if you having kids come I would pass on the pillows.

PIllows on a bench for a tablescape

Now that your beautiful table is done make sure to light your hurricane lamps about five minutes before guests arrive. Turn the wick down very low almost where you cannot see it but not too low because then it will fall down into the oil. The lower the wick the lower the light.

Also, lowering the wick will help with the smoke emitted from the chamber lamp. If your glass cover is dirty I find putting them in the dishwasher makes it sparkle.

Conclusion

Well, we have finished these easy elegant Thanksgiving table decorations and it is time to party. Here are more final shots of the table. I hope you have a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving.

easy Thanksgiving fall tablescape

This table is also great for a fall or autumn party. Invite friends over and sit by lamplight. You could even do it for Halloween and call it a pilgrim costume party. Everyone has to wear pilgrim-style clothes and come eat an old-fashioned pioneer dinner.

Now that you have a table decoration for this holiday season my friend Mel has Thanksgiving meal recipes to finish your dinner at Adventures of Mel. And for more fall inspiration try these Thanksgiving table decoration ideas.

I hope you have fun creating this table and a wonderful Thanksgiving.

The easiest wheat wreath DIY project. I couldn't believe how simple and inexpensive this fall or Thanksgiving wreath turned out. Learn how to make a wheat wreath using my simple steps. It was a subtle touch to my door decor and fit nicely with my fall front porch decorations.
Wheat wreath DIY using a metal gold ring.

Before we jump into the details of making this fall wheat wreath DIY, I want to share what inspired this easy project. This year I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I was looking for a homemade natural kind of design.

This fall wreath DIY fits the bill. It was cheap and natural because the wheat is dried. You can also change the wheat for other dried flowers or plants to make a wreath that lasts all year long. Here is how to make a dried wheat wreath for your front door too.

Beautiful Wheat Wreath DIY

Before we begin, let's gather some supplies for this DIY wheat wreath.

Fall Wreath DIY

Now that you have gathered your supplies let's start the process on how to make a wheat wreath by making wheat bundles.

Step 1: Wheat Bundles

Let's begin by laying the metal ring and a bundle of three or four pieces of wheat on your table.

Measure and cut dried wheat to fit onto a metal ring

Simply lay the dried wheat bundle next to one side of the metal ring to help you figure out how long you want the first piece to be and then trim it with scissors or wire cutters.

Cutting dried wheat with wire cutters.

I used wire cutters because they seemed easier to cut than my scissors.

Step 2: Attach Wheat Bundles to Ring

Now place the stems of the wheat on one side of the metal ring with a piece of twine under it. Add a dot of hot glue and tie it into place with thin twine. I used twine instead of floral wire because I couldn't get the wire tight enough to make it snug.

Place a dot of hot glue ton the wire ring where you will be tying the dried wheat in place.

This is what it will look like. You should have one small bundle of wheat sitting on top of the gold ring between 6 and 9 o'clock, with the top of the bundle around 9 o'clock.

Placing dried wreath on a gold metal ring and tie it with twine to make a fall wreath.
Simple dried wheat wreath DIY

Step 3: Add Second Bundle of Wheat

Next, use a piece of the cut wheat to measure from the center bottom of the ring to the bundle of wheat you just added. Then measure over on the other side and this is where you will apply the next dried wheat bundle.

Dried wheat wreath DIY

See how easy this is moving along?

Dried wheat wreath DIY minimalist

Keep adding new bundles of wheat layering on top of each other but moving towards the center bottom as you go. And trim off any excess dried wheat stems.

This is what your whole wreath will look like after applying all the wheat bundles. You will leave a space at the bottom for the ribbon.

Minimalist dried wheat wreath ready for a ribbon

Step 4: Add Ribbon Bow

Now you are ready for a ribbon bow.

Loop and tie a bow to the metal ring on the wreath.

Make loops with your ribbon and then tie it on with the twine. After you have finished with the loops wrap another piece of ribbon over the center and either tie it in place or use your glue gun.

Simple dried wheat wreath DIY

See how the center ribbon bow covers the twine? A great alternative is a burlap bow. It would be cute too and it will give it a more rustic farmhouse look. Guess what? Now you are finished. This really is simple and easy and a cheap wreath to make.

How to Hang your Wheat Wreath on your Front Door

Now that your wreath is done, you will need to hang it on your front door. I hung my wreath with ribbon tieing it on the inside of my door with a pretty bow. I have a post on how to hang a wreath with ribbon that walks you through it step by step, and it is easy to do.

However, if you want to hang your wreaths on your windows, here are steps on how to hang wreaths on windows.

Fall Decorations using Wheat

Now that we have the wreath made and hung on your front door, here are more ideas. Add some decorations to your entryway to complement your autumn wreath. Or decorate your porch with these fall front porch decorating ideas on a budget.

Autumn decorated small front porch using wheat, mums, pumpkins, lantern and more.

Conclusion

Fall is my favorite season to decorate. I love decorating with natural things. This natural wreath gives that feeling and it was cheap.

Not everything is cheap when you make it homemade but this wreath was well worth it. The white farmhouse bench on the porch is homemade too. It is a simple DIY bench that you can make in a matter of hours once you have all the supplies.

Here are a few more photos of the wreath.

I hope you have found this helpful and I cannot wait to hear what dried greenery or flowers you choose to make this wreath. You should check out my other great ideas on how to decorate with wreaths.

Don't forget to add your holiday decorations. It is as simple as adding a basket filled with mums, leaves from your yard, and pumpkins.

Oh, and don't forget my simple tutorial on how to hang a wreath with ribbon. You will be amazed at what one command hook can do. Here is another beautiful fall wreath DIY that is easy and fun to make.

This fall celebrate with family and friends with these Farmhouse style Thanksgiving dinner table ideas for a delicious feast. This dining table design can be placed inside or outdoors and it is easy to create.
Thanksgiving dinner table ideas for outdoors

Last year I created a Dollar Tree fall Thanksgiving tablescape but this year I teamed up with Coton Colors to bring you elegant outdoor Thanksgiving dinner table ideas.

Like always, this tablescape is easy to create and you most likely will not have to leave home to pull it together like my easy Thanksgiving table decorations with a pilgrim vibe. So let's get started and I will walk you through the steps on creating this lovely Farmhouse style holiday table setting.

This post is sponsored by Coton Colors and contains affiliate links. All opinions are my own.

Thanksgiving Dinner Table Ideas

Before I begin I want to tell you a little about Coton Colors. Coton Colors is a wonderful company that originated in my home town of Tallahassee. They make pottery and accessories for your home and holidays.

Their designs are unique, fun and gorgeous!

I have been decorating with their pottery and accessories for years. One of my favorites is my patriotic front door wreath. Coton Colors has more wreaths on their Happy Everything website.

But let's dive into making this farmhouse style table setting.

How can I decorate my Thanksgiving table?

Before you start gather all your supplies. Here is a list of what I used to create this farmhouse style Thanksgiving table.

Now that you all your pieces let's begin putting it all together.

Linens

Let's begin with layering linens on the table. I love to be creative when it comes to tablecloths. For this project, I used a flat sheet that has a yummy wrinkled look and tossed it on the table.

Thanksgiving dinner table decoration beginning with a white flat sheet

Then I placed a blue faded throw with tassels on the ends across the center kind of like a runner. I laid it out in an s-shape on the table making sure where there was a flat spot for a place setting.

Blue blanket throw drapped across a table as a runner for Fall tablescape

Fall or Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Next, let's do a little prep work to make the centerpiece.

Grab two bundles of dried wheat and placed them inside the french country pitcher. I didn't even have to cut the ends. The french pitcher was tall enough to hold them at their current height.

Bundles of wheat inside a french country pitcher for a Thanksgiving centerpiece

Once you have the dried wheat in the pitcher let's look at making the wooden platform for your table.

Measure the longest side of your table and then subtract 24″ and then cut your board to that length. Next, brush on some white chalk paint and let it dry. Then using sandpaper rub off the paint on the corners or anywhere to give it a distressed look.

Once you have everything ready place the distressed piece of wood in the center of the table and then put the dried arrangement in the center.

Place Settings

Again you will need to do a little prep work on the place setting. Take the silverware and place the knife down first and then cross over the knife with a fork and then cross the other side with a spoon.

Then cut a piece of ribbon that is about 24″ long and tie it around the silverware just like you do a shoelace. After you have all the silverware ready let's begin making the place settings.

Silverware wrapped in ribbon and tied in a tow for a fall or Thanksgiving tablescape

First lay down the ruffled polka dot charger.

Then place the dinner plate on top of the charger.

Next place a white salad plate on the dinner plate. I like to mix and match old, new and borrowed pieces. The dinner plates are from my farmhouse hutch.

Now for the fun part and this is where I love to pick something out as a gift for friends and family.

Place a dipping bowl right in the center. I love how this bowl fits the vibe of this Thanksgiving tablescape with a wonderful reminder of being thankful.

Adding something special to the center makes each guest feel special and they will love it the surprise when they hear it is a gift.

Next place your silverware to the right on top of a linen napkin.

And then place your stemless champagne flute above the silverware.

Last all you have to do is sit a salt and pepper shaker on the table.

I have something exciting to share. If you use code SUMMERHILL when you make a purchase you get this adorable salt and pepper shaker with your order.

Guess what? Your Thanksgiving tablescape is all finished!!! Here are a few more photos to show you an overall look.

FRONT DOOR FALL DECOR IDEAS

When gathering inspiration for our fall front porch decorating ideas on a budget, we knew right where to go. Our friends have simple, yet special front door fall decor ideas.

WHEN SHOULD I DECORATE MY HOUSE FOR FALL?

Do you find yourself pondering ‘when should I decorate my house for fall?' We think there's no right or wrong answer.

Some think you should wait until the weather begins to change. Others say after Labor Day.

HOW DO I DECORATE MY FRONT DOOR FOR FALL?

We have some great examples to answer the question, ‘how do I decorate my front door for fall?'. But here is what we find traditional decorating elements for the autumn season.

  • Pumpkins
  • Haybales
  • Corn stalks
  • Husks
  • Lanterns
  • Scarcrows
  • Mums (this is a fall season flower)
  • Seasonal signs

Let's tour our friend's porches and see how they used many of the traditional fall outdoor decorations so you can be inspired.

AUTUMN GARLAND FRONT DOOR

Fall front door garland decor idea
Vintagewhitefarmhouse

One of my favorite places to get inspiration is on Instagram so when I came across this fall porch by Vintagewhitefarmhouse I couldn't wait to share it with you. A fun way to add harvest decor to your front door is with a garland.

Isn't this garland adorable! Tammy is a very talented designer and if you want to see more ideas check out her IG. In addition to her fall outdoor fall decorations, she has some Halloween decor too.

VINTAGE FALL FRONT PORCH IDEAS

Decor Steals & Favored Farmhouse

When the temperatures drop and the leaves start changing an old-style feeling comes in my decor so when I saw this adorable autumn front porch decorated by Favored Farmhouse I knew you would want to see it too.

There are so many details that are inspiring on this porch. Hay bales, pumpkins, lanterns, fall front door wreath filled with mini pumpkins, pine cones, and autumn leaves, corn stalks, mums and so much more. It is a harvest wonderland!

CHARMING FALL FRONT PORCH

Autumn Front door decorations.

Fallon's front door shows off how you can have subtle but gorgeous fall decor right at your front door.

You can welcome the autumn season change from a cute nod to fall on your mat to a pumpkin patch wooden sign.

COZY FALL PILLOWS, MUMS & A WREATH ON A FRONT PORCH

Fall front door decorations with mums.

Adding pillows that tie together the color of your fall decor theme is a great plan, and they look so sweet on JeriKay's porch swing.

Mums are also a great fall flower to add to your planters for a touch of fall decor. Don't forget a wreath when you put together your autumn front door decor.

FUN FALL FRONT DOOR

Fall front door decor.

Speaking of mums! Check out the fun mat that Alieta has at her front door. It's so cute incorporated into her fall front porch decor.

Fresh pumpkins and gourds also make the perfect decorations for the outdoors and add so much color.

HELLO GOURD-GEOUS FALL DOOR MAT

Autumn front door mats layered with a stack of pumpkins next to it.

Our friend Meagan's fall doormat makes us giggle. What a fun play on words this is.

Layered rugs are perfect in the fall. They are kind of a nod to the fact that the cooler temperatures have you layering up your clothes.

HELLO FALL FRONT DOOR

Another fall front door decor with layered mats and stacked pumpkins.

Jennifer's front door says it best. Hello Fall! Don't you agree these wreath alternatives are adorable?

The way she stacks her pumpkins is also a great way to create dimension and bring attention to your fall front door.

BEAUTIFUL FALL PORCH WITH NEUTRAL TONES

Autumn french door with loads of mums and monochromatic colored pumpkins.

Neutral tones are pretty to use when you're decorating your front door for fall. White pumpkins are a trendy addition that has peaked in the last few years and they look beautiful sitting on top of straw bales on Chyvonne's porch.

We love Chyvonnes porch with all its natural elements so much until we used it in our farmhouse fall porch decor post.

RICH AUTUMN COLORED PORCH DECOR

Another French front door decor with many pumpkins and a warm autumn feel.

Splashes of rich autumn color are a great inspiration that Hope brings us with her front porch decor.

She creates the vibe of a pumpkin patch with an outdoor entryway.

FALL FRONT DOOR DECOR COMPLETE WITH TREE STUMPS

Luci's front fall door decor is complete with tree stumps. This creates a great fall setting with a rustic appeal.

She mixed fresh and faux pumpkins and you can't pick out which is which.

We simply love her maroon mat matches her door!

SCARECROWS, CORNSTALKS & SO MUCH MORE BY THIS FALL FRONT DOOR

A fall styled nook on a front porch filled with decorations like pumpkins and a scarecrow.

A little nook on a front porch is a welcoming area to add fall decor. Jennifer tucks in so many fantastic autumn accessories into this spot by her front door.

Pumpkins, cornstalks, scarecrows, OH MY! So much to love!

RUSTIC COTTAGE FALL FRONT PORCH

A rustic vintage fall front door and porch with a few planters of mums and metallic painted pumpkins.

Beth has rustic vintage touches mixed into her fall decor. She does a lovely job carrying her decorations from her front door to her seating area.

Check out her vintage pumpkin farm sign from ToeFishArt. It adds just the right touch.

What a great piece to have for the fall for outdoor or indoor harvest season.

AUTUMN COTTAGE FRONT DOOR

Fall front door decorating idea using wheat

Our front door is decorated with a new minimalistic fall wheat wreath DIY hoop wreath. This was the easiest fall wreath I have made yet and it is cheap too.

An autumn front door and porch with a little white bench, mums, pumpkins, and dried wheat.

And we also dolled up the new simple DIY bench we made with a plaid throw scarf, some dried wheat, fall foliage, and white pumpkins. To see the whole small porch transformation check out fall front porch decorating ideas on a budget.

Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas for Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving so close I wanted to give you a quick, easy and inexpensive tablescape idea for friends and family. These Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas will give your table that warm and cozy feeling.

Dollar Tree Fall Decorating Ideas

If you are like me you have a champagne taste on a beer budget. Well, this table will help with that along with my easy Thanksgiving table decorations with a pilgrim vibe. If you want a more traditional fall-colored table then check it out. But if you want something bright and cheery then let's grab supplies and create your new table.

Dollar Tree Fall Tablescape Decoration Supplies

Before we jump into the dynamics of this table and break it down into sections. Here is a supply list:

Products from Amazon.com

Centerpiece

This centerpiece is broken up into two sections and flanks the lazy susan in the middle which is where all the food sits. We will talk about the lazy susan later.

Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas for Thanksgiving with two centerpiece flanking a white lazy susan. Each centerpiece has one taper candle in a clear jar, a pink flower and pink and white pumpkins.

But the cool thing about these centerpieces is that they are functional. Not only do they look pretty but they play a part in the dinner.

The dollar store has the cutest glass wine shaped bottles with a snap down sealed top. Fill them with your favorite beverage or in our case some good old fashion sweet tea.

Next purchase some glass jars and place tapered candles in the top. Put one candle by the tea jar then place some flowers, greenery, and pumpkins.

Because I went with some pink in my fall bicycle wreath this year I decided to repeat the pink on the table and luckily I had some flowers leftover.

Bicycle fall wreath with bright autumn flowers.

Good designs are in the details like these pink and white small pumpkins. I love the look of inexpensive dollar store painted pumpkins!

Grab four or five small pumpkins from the Dollar Tree while you are there and paint them with some primer and then some acrylic paint. To keep from painting the stem simply pull it up a little and paint under it and then pop it back down. Not all stems are moveable but many can be moved.

Painting pink and white pumpkins with acrylic paint.

Large Chalkboard Lazy Susan

Now let's talk about the large chalkboard lazy susan in the middle of the table. This lazy susan is inspired by a grain cloth pattern. But before we talk about how I painted it let me share that it is 24″ wide.

Whoa! That is a big lazy susan but isn't it amazing!

White oversized lazy susan with grain cloth stripes in green on it and distressed with a clear chalkboard finish on the top.

So here is how I made this large chalkboard lazy susan. First, I purchased a smaller lazy susan that was inexpensive. Then I picked up a round piece of wood from Home Depot.

Next, I simply glued the two together, primed and painted the top white. Then I used painters tape to tape off the lines and painted them green.

Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas for a Thanksgiving tablescape using clear bottles for tea, pink and white mini pumpkins and a clear jar with a white tapered candle.

You can paint the lines any color like blue, grey, black or green. Think about your overall table design and select a color that will coordinate nicely.

Last I put a layer of clear chalkboard paint on the top.

For more details on how to make this oversized chalkboard lazy susan check out my post on Hometalk. There is a video too. 🙂

Also if you love Dollar Tree DIY then try my Dollar Tree DIY indoor herb garden decoration. It is a functional piece of decoration for your kitchen and can be used as a centerpiece for a table setting.

Place Settings

Now let's talk about the place settings. Search for one item that is small enough to fit in each plate. Make sure the item fits into your style and color scheme.

For this table, I found these cute wooden market signs at the dollar spot at Target. They had that green distressed look to them just like the lazy susan.

Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas for a Thanksgiving tablescape using a cute market sign for a place setting centerpiece. Stacked white dishes with a decorative dish towel between the dishes and a white painted charger.

Now simply start designing your place setting from this little decorative piece. Layer some dishes and add a kitchen towel, cloth napkin or anything that will drape down the table. These dish towels also came from the dollar spot at Target.

Last, sit your place setting on a charger or placemat. This white charger was originally gold from the Dollar Tree. I simply roughed it with a sanding block and painted it with chalk paint.

Use one coat of chalk paint and make it a little streaky. Again we are keeping it slightly distressed. If you would like more information about chalk painting check out my how to paint with chalk paint post.

Now add your glasses and silverware and you are ready for guests.

Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas for a Thanksgiving tablescape using a cute market sign for a place setting centerpiece. Stacked white dishes with a decorative dish towel between the dishes and a white painted charger.

You might notice that this dish towel is different in this photo. The dishtowels came in sets of two so I alternated them around the table.

After the party is over I let each guest take their dish towel and market sign home. It is a party favor or thank you gift for guests.

Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas for a beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape.

Conclusion

Yay! Your tablescape is all finished and you didn't have to spend a fortune.

Here are a few more thoughts about the evening. The lazy susan was so functional and pretty on the table. The food looked amazing sitting in the middle and being able to write on the chalkboard made it even more special.

Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas for a beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape.

Don't forget to write on the lazy susan each food item. And just before the guests arrive for dinner light the candles.

Everything is going to look amazing!

Simply take each step from this post and think about a few key items to build everything off of. For example, look for the place setting decorative piece and then design your color scheme from there.

Finding the glasses, flowers and such will be the easy part.

Another tip is to start designing the table a week ahead. Make everything two days before and set the table the day before. If you follow this schedule then all you have to think about is food the day of the event.

I hope these tips help you create a beautiful dinner table. For more holiday ideas check out this farmhouse Thanksgiving dinner table ideas and Friendsgiving table settings that will warm your guest's hearts.

Rachel, over at This Is Our Bliss, made the perfect maple leaf charger. She walks you through step by step in her blog post on how to make this beauty. You'll create the perfect place settings for your Thanksgiving dinner.

The pizza pan and leaves come right from the local Dollar Store and most of the other items needed, you most likely have in your home already. This is a great start to stunning Dollar Store fall tablescapes, don't you agree?

Rustic Fall Tablescape from Dollar Store

So many items from this nature-loving rustic thanksgiving tablescape are from the Dollar Store. The faux pumpkins were given a new look by Lauren, at the Bless'er House and the candles look great up on wood rounds as candle holders.

Bringing in the outdoors, like these pine cones and the tree wood rounds, save money too. Decorative items for the fall season can be found right outside your door.

What a great idea! There are so many adorable details to this country table. For example, the mason jars used as glasses.

Lauren gave a new look to a bookshelf and we shared it in our post, DIY Bookshelf Makeover That's Not Just For Bookworms. We think you'll love it and be inspired by how it turned out, just much as this sweet table.

Dollar Store Fall Tablescapes by Repurpose & Upcycle with a havest fall tablescape

Can we all just stop and admire Lindsey, from Repurpose & Upcycle, harvest-themed tablescape? It's striking! It would be a perfect Thanksgiving centerpiece.

Stacey, over at Wilshire Collections, went shopping at Target's Dollar Spot and was inspired to make her own navy blue pumpkins. She purchased her plastic pumpkins from the Dollar Store and then transformed them by painting them.

After that, she put together a gorgeous tray that can become a centerpiece for a fall tablescape.

We shared more of Stacey's talent in our buffalo check holiday post. So, if you love what she's created here, check out what other ideas she has.

Golden Pumpkin Centerpiece

Dollar Store Fall Tablescapes by Hip 2 Save with a golden pumpkin centerpiece

We think you'll be surprised with Collin's, at Hip 2 Save, beautiful tablescape centerpiece or maybe I should say Halloween centerpiece. Dollar Store Pink Fall Tablescape

Dollar store Thanksgiving table setting

Lastly, let's talk about a bright and happy fall tablescape that I call Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas. I created this one from Target dollar spot and Dollar Tree finds for our dining room table. Using some items I already had on hand and shopping for a few other pieces I was able to pull together a fun table for the holidays. It only takes a little time to design your fall tablescape.

This is really an easy table to create and a great way to dress up a small table with elegant finishing touches. Add small painted Dollar Tree mini pumpkins in pink with a little bit of green here and there and like magic, you have a festive table. You can paint fake pumpkins with most paints, however, I like to use acrylic paints because it is so cheap.

The fall flowers were leftover from the bicycle wheel wreath. It is a very popular wreath if you would like to check it out at a DIY fall bicycle wreath. You will be surprised at this easy DIY fall wreath. It will make a great addition to your home's fall decor on your front door or on your wall.

Plan Ahead

Plan your family gathering and table by preparing and shopping ahead of time.

Here is a checklist of holiday table decorations you will need to create this heartwarming table:

Centerpiece

This year's inspiration began with this flower arrangement by Kendall Farms.  They have a fantastic eye for good design!  Their sunflower arrangement was perfect, and the flowers arrived fresh!!

Thanksgiving table decorations diy flowers by Kendall Farms

Once your flowers arrive make sure to follow the directions right away.

It was straightforward!

Unwrap the flowers.

Thanksgiving table decorations DIY flower prep

Cut the stems about 1/2″ from the bottom.

Fill the crock provided with water.

Add provided supplement pack to the water.

Place the flowers into the crock and add some mini battery powered lights to give these already amazing flowers a little extra charm.

The lights will add to that warm and cozy feeling!

Sit the centerpiece in a refrigerator until the event.

Talk about the easiest centerpiece ever!!

Place Setting Decorations

Now the second most important spot to start your decoration is your place settings.  Here is a do it yourself Thanksgiving table decorations idea.

Thanksgiving table decorations DIY place setting decoration

The place setting is the seat that is personal to your guests so why not give them a little something special.

Getting Started

You will need

Think about the centerpiece you have selected and coordinate your tags with the flower arrangement.

Measure and Cut

Now lay your roll of craft paper out and measure 9 1/2″ inches by 12″ and cut.

Measure craft paper for Thanksgiving table decorations DIY

Cut craft paper for Thanksgiving table decorations DIY

Count how many place setting and then cut that many more craft paper pieces.

Measure, Cut and Fold Top Center

Next, lay your ruler along the top of the 12″ side and make a mark at 4″ and 8″.  Bring down your ruler about 2 inches and mark four and eight inches again.  Now measure from the top of the paper down 2″ and then draw a line.

Measure top of craft paper for Thanksgiving table decorations DIY

Cut down that line 2 inches.

Fold the centerpiece down.

Fold Sides

We are about half way finished.  Next, fold in the sides.

Fold Up the Bottom

Now fold under the bottom.  Try laying your silverware next to the envelope to get an idea of how much you want to fold under, or you can fold it under about 2 1/2 to 3 inches.

Fold bottom of craft paper for Thanksgiving table decorations DIY

Sew

This part is optional, but it gives your envelopes an extra layer of love.

Turn your sewing machine on the highest setting.  Now start sewing inside the edge a little more than a 1/8 inch.

Run down each side and the bottom.Sew along edges of folded craft paper for Thanksgiving table decorations DIY

Trim the thread close for a polished look.

Now you have your envelopes, and they are ready to be placed on the place settings.

Other Accessories

Grab what other accessories you plan to have on the table.  It is a tradition at our house to have the pilgrim salt and pepper shakers on the table.

Thanksgiving table decorations DIY

Place the wine bottle wrap and bottle on the table.

This wine wrap is so adorable!  Look at how precious it is from the back.  The best part about the wrap is it looks beautiful from all sides.

And don't forget about some mini white pumpkins as a filler.

Drop Cloth Runner

Think outside the box is the thought behind this milk painted wood piece.  To make this layer on your table simply purchase a 2″ x 9″ piece of wood.

The turkey is no doubt important on Thanksgiving Day. However, the table is where loved ones gather around, and the time you spend decorating your holiday table will allow them to feel how thankful you are for each one. So, join us as we show off these easy Thanksgiving table decorations and thanksgiving tablescapes.Thanksgiving Tablescapes ideas for the holiday using pumpkins, candles, sunflowers, pies and more.

At our house, most major holidays are celebrated by preparing lots of food. After spending a day cooking, easy Thanksgiving table decorations are a must. So weeks before the event, I searched for simple festive table decor ideas.

I find that pumpkins are used in almost every Thanksgiving tablescape centerpiece. They might take center stage, but they don't steal the show. Table runners, napkins, and chargers also play a big part in adding color and texture.

Since I was searching for ideas then, you might like to see the Thanksgiving tables I found most inspiring and a few of my designs from years past.

Thanksgiving Tablescapes

Let's begin by talking about an overall theme for these Thanksgiving decorations. I was looking for a country farmhouse look. A simple fall centerpiece and decorations using dishes and table setting items I already have around my home but gorgeous DIY Thanksgiving centerpieces.

Now beginning with pumpkins as centerpieces and buffalo check is a great place to start.

Tiffany's table scape is simple but sophisticated. The black and white decor is classic. Individual messages on each plate allows loved ones gathered around the Thanksgiving dinner table to feel special in their own way.

White Pumpkins and Wheat Thanksgiving Table Decorations

Placing a stalk of wheat on each napkin is a great farmhouse touch to this neutral Thanksgiving tablescape.

The mini pies on a cake stand remind us of the Hygge Inspired Thanksgiving Table we set up.  Food is a great thing to incorporate into your decor.

Let's talk about eye-catching centerpieces like this gorgeous and easy Thanksgiving centerpiece. Mixing metals and glass with foliage and gourds makes this table exquisite.

Shiplap chargers topped with copper plates give this Thanksgiving table scape a farmhouse sophistication.

Thanksgiving Pie Centerpiece

Jenny's Thanksgiving tablescape has beautiful colors! They aren't the traditional colors of fall but are more muted. The browns in the crate and the woven chargers are lighter. The oranges are gorgeous peaches and corals. And white pieces lighten up the whole set.

I particularly love the pumpkin pies in the place settings. Adding one pumpkin pie to each place setting provides the dessert and makes a cute decoration. You will see this idea on one of my tables at the end of this post.

Sunflowers that are blush and white give this table setting a dreamy look. The napkins are sweet, and the macrame table runner has precious lace detail. I love easy centerpieces where all you do is place pumpkins and flowers.

Also, look at the cute thankful pumpkin! Thankful encompasses what Thanksgiving is all about, and setting a pumpkin stating just that is perfect.

Tiny Pumpkin Place Settings

Gold is a beautiful accent color for a simple Thanksgiving table setting. Eucalyptus is also a farmhouse favorite!

The chargers used here with white mini pumpkins are totally adorable! It reminds us of our Small Pumpkins Decor post, which will give you loads more ideas with small pumpkins. There are many easy Thanksgiving table decorations in this post.

Dollar Store Thanksgiving Tablescape

Dollar store tablescape for Thanksgiving

These budget-friendly Dollar Tree fall decorating ideas are perfect for your Thanksgiving table. The Dollar Tree has lovely white dishes, clear glassware, and small pumpkins you can paint. Grab a gold charger to paint, a small pumpkin or two, and you have a gorgeous tablescape.

I found the dish towel and small wooden market sign at the dollar spot at Target.

Vintage Floral Centerpiece Thanksgiving Tablescape

This Thanksgiving table decorations DIY project was probably the easiest design we created. The flower arrangement is an online company, and the envelopes I made from brown paper.

Add mini lights to your fresh flowers centerpiece, and your Thanksgiving table will sparkle.

Natural Thanksgiving Table Setting

The rustic look of this table is so inviting. The garland connects each person at the table. I love using natural elements like pine cones that say harvest season.

Such great reminders on each of these plates. Grateful hearts will gather around this table indeed. All your family members will love this table.

Easy Vintage Farmhouse Table Setting

Hygge Thanksgiving table

If you love cozy vintage farmhouse style, you will love this hygge Thanksgiving table.

The place settings are easy as apple pie to create–literally. LOL! Simply purchase mini pies and wrap them in torn pieces of fabric. Add a dish towel under the plate; like magic, you are done. Also, note the place cards. Such an easy idea to add a touch of detail.

Talk about a simple table setting that has a warm and cozy feeling. Now all you need is the Thanksgiving menu.
