Today we are talking about how to make teacup candles using a sweet vintage antique tea cup. This cheap and easy project can be created with an old candle or wax pellets.

How to make a teacup candle

Before I begin talking about how to make teacup candles let me share that this is my first time candle making and it was so easy. I ask myself why did I wait this long to make a candle in any kind of jar.

I love making candles out of fruit like this how to make a candle from an orange and how to make a candle from an apple. These candles are super easy because you don't have to melt the wax. But I have never made a candle in a jar — meaning melting wax and all the steps.

But what really got me interested in making a candle was after I did some research on what to look for in clean burning candles. That was when I became interested in making my own candles.

You are probably wondering why am I teaching how to make a teacup candle rather than another type of container candle? Well, I have several late 1800's pretty teacups that belonged to my husband's mom. They never get used so I thought wouldn't it be pretty to make them into a candle.

Well, now that you know what made this all come about, let's get started on our DIY project by grabbing supplies.

How to Make a Teacup Candle

Most of the supplies you will need you may already have at home. Except maybe the teacup. You can find vintage teacups at your local thrift store, charity shops, or second-hand stores. There are many places to find pretty tea cups!

Now collect all your supplies first before you get started melting the wax for your DIY candle.

Shop Supplies:

How to Make a Candle in a Tea Cup

Candle making only requires a few easy steps. Basically, to make a candle all you have to do is melt wax and pour it into the jar or, in our case a pretty teacup, that already has a wick inside. Let's begin with the first step, and that is planning out what to melt the wax in.

How to Melt Wax for Candle

Before you start, make sure your glass bowl sits down inside your pot but does not touch the bottom, similar to a double boiler. Once you have this part figured out, add water to the pot about 1/4 of the inside of the pot. Turn the burner on and wait for it to come to a low rolling boil.

While you are waiting for the water to boil, it's a good idea to get the wax ready. Let's break the taper candles into three smaller candles. I used both my hands, grabbed the candle in each hand and snapped it. Once you have a break you will need to cut the wick inside with scissors.

Now check on the water and if it is boiling bring the burner down to close to low where the water comes to a low rolling boil. Then go ahead and sit the bowl into the pot and place broken candles inside. I only put three pieces of a candle in at a time because my pot is small. Stir the wax pieces with a popsicle stick around until they melt.

Melting a beeswax candle

If your water acts like it wants to come out of the pot around the glass bowl simply turn it down until it stops.

As the wax melts you will notice that the wicks come loose. Simply take the jumbo popsicle stick and lift it out of the bowl onto the plate.

Removing the wick from the beeswax candle

Now add three more pieces of wax and stir them until they are melted.

Once the wax has melted, turn off the burner. The wax will stay in liquid form because of the warm water.

Next, place your cutting board close by and set the teacup on it. I placed my cutting board on the other side of my range. It is convenient to have it close by, but you can put it on the counter too.

.

How to Set Up a Wick for a Candle

Now determine how long your candle wick needs to be and cut the wick. I measured from up against the cup and then cut the wick about 1/4″ shorter than the mark. You want your wick to be 1/8″ above the wax once you pour it inside.

how to measure the wick for a candle

Then place the wooden wick into the metal frame wick holder. Next, use your hot glue gun to add a dab of hot glue to the bottom of the metal frame. Then place it inside on the bottom of your teacup in the center of the cup.

Setting a wooden wick in the bottom of a teacup with hot glue

If you are using a cotton candle wicks, repeat these steps except cut the wick an extra couple of inches. Once you place the wick into the bottom of the cup, take a wooden skewer or pencil and wrap the wick around it. This will keep your wick straight.

How to Pour Candle Wax into Cup

Now pick up the bowl with a hot pad or oven mitt and pour the melted wax into the teacup. This is where the spout comes in handy. It helps keep the wax from going where it shouldn't. Pour the wax until it is about 1/8″ below the top of the wooden wick. Go slowly, you do not want to pour too much wax.

Next, let it sit, and the wax cool for at least four hours. Do not touch, bump or move the teacup candle. If it is moved in any way, even if it looks like it is solid, it may cave into the middle a little. I know because I learned the hard way. Here is how it looks after 10 minutes.

Here is how it looks after 4 hours.

Making a vintage teacup candle

Once your teacup candle is hardened you are all finished. If your wick is still too long and needs trimming, simply use scissors and trim it down to 1/8″ above the wax.

When you go to light it, make sure to burn it for a while the first time so the wax melts out to the edges. This will help the candle to burn more evenly in the future.

How to Decorate with a Teacup Candle

The best part is deciding where to display your tea cup candles. Here are some ideas on how to decorate with your teacup candle. It looks amazing on an end table. Our sitting room off the kitchen is the perfect spot for tea so this teacup candle looks perfect nestled with these accessories.

Your teacup candle also looks great on a coffee table. Our coffee table is a great place to burn it because it is not near anything that can catch on fire.

Decorating with a teacup candle

These sweet little teacup candles make great gifts. You can give it for Valentine's day or use it as a place setting for a special dinner, Mother's Day, or bridal shower. Then you can give it as a gift to all your guests to take home. Can you imagine how special they will feel going home with the wonderful gift of an antique vintage teacup candle?

There are so many beautiful ways you can style your teacup candle.

Conclusion

You are probably wondering why I used two taper beeswax candles instead of buying beeswax pellets. Well, I was so excited to get started and the only natural beeswax I could find were these candles. I like to use clean-burning candles in my home so that is why I was looking specifically for beeswax.

You can also do this project with Dollar Tree taper candles unless you are looking for organic or natural wax. This teacup candle would be super cheap if you already have the teacup and use Dollar Tree candles.

It's also a fun to make teacup candles with different scents. You may also try using soy candles or soy wax flakes that you can find at your craft store. It's even a great way to give new life to old candles. Keep in mind that a different type of wax may have a lower melting point so keep a close eye on your melting wax.

I hope you have found these DIY teacup candles inspiring. Do you have an old teacup sitting around? DIY candles are a simple craft a try. There are so many fun ways to use your teacup candle. Whether you keep it for yourself or use it as a wonderful gift, it will give your old teacup a new purpose.

Display of an easy DIY heart shaped bowl

This how to make clay bowls project is my second air-dry clay craft and I am hooked. There is something therapeutic about working with clay.

After making this heart garland DIY I knew I wanted to make another heart clay project. I thought a bowl would be a good idea and so cute, not just any bowl, but a vintage linen-textured heart-shaped bowl. My heart shaped cookie cutters are getting a workout this year!

So off to the work table I went to find the easiest, foolproof way for an easy DIY clay bowl to share with you. Let's get started making a vintage air-dry clay bowl.

How to Make Clay Bowls

To begin, your first step is to gather all your supplies, and then we will dive into the steps on making these small bowls.

Shop for supplies:

Now let's talk about how to make a simple clay bowl and then we will work on each step together.

How Do You Make a Simple Clay Bowl?

Probably the easiest way to make a simple clay bowl is with air-dry clay, also known as modeling clay, and that is the technique we are going to try today. This type of clay is easy to work with and the best part is you don't need any fancy equipment and your hands will do most of the work. Now here are the steps on making a beautiful clay bowl with air dry clay.

DIY Clay Bowls

The first thing you will need to do is warm up the clay in your hands. The amount of clay should be about the size of a small orange and start rolling it around in your hand in a circular motion.

DIY clay bowls

Next lay the ball of clay on the table or other nice flat surface and use the palm of your hand to pat it out. Keep pressing into the clay until it is around a quarter of an inch thick. You can lift it from the paper and turn it over while you press it out.

Pressing air dry clay on a table

Now take your rolling pin and roll out the clay from the center. Keep rolling and turning the clay until you have it rolled out about 1/8″ thin, but no less.

How to make a clay bowl by rolling out air dry clay

Turn the dowel in different directions to keep the round shape of the clay and keep rolling from the center until it is big enough for a cookie-cutter.

Once the clay is rolled out enough for the cookie cutter to fit into it, then you are ready to cut the heart shape. Simply sit the cookie cutter on the clay and press down. Then wiggle it right and left to help make the cut even.

Next, remove the excess clay from around the edges of the cookie cutter. You can also remove the cookie cutter first and then remove the excess but this time I removed the excess first. Put the leftover clay aside to use another time.

How to make an air dry clay bowl with cookie cutter

Follow by removing the cookie cutter from around the heart. Pull straight up gently and carefully so you keep the shape of the heart.

Now you should be able to pull the modeling clay heart from the paper. Use your finger to pat or smooth any loose edges. If it is rougher than you like you can dampen your finger and smooth it out even more.

If you are happy with your clay heart now sit it back on the table and grab the loose weave fabric. Set the fabric on the clay making sure to cover the surface of the clay completely.

How Do I Add Texture to Clay

How to make texture on air dry clay

Now run the dowel over the fabric making sure to press into the clay but not so much you lose the shape of the heart. When you are finished pull the fabric up from one end to reveal the pattern on the clay. It's the small things like this step that are a wonderful way to make your heart shaped bowl unique.

Adding texture with fabric on air dry clay heart

If your clay heart is ready, then it is time to start shaping it into a bowl. Sit your bowl upside down on the table and dust it lightly with flour. You do not need very much, just a little so the clay heart will not stick to the glass bowl. Now turn the heart upside down and center it on a bowl that is larger than the clay heart.

How to Make a Bowl Shape out of Modeling Clay

Modeling clay heart placed over a bowl

Next start working the clay around the edges. I did this gently and took my time. This will make a shallow bowl, do not stretch the clay simply mold it down a little at a time, turning the bowl as you go.

Molding clay around a bowl

Once the clay is down over the bowl you will let it sit for 2 to 3 days.

After the heart shape clay bowl is dry, remove it carefully from the bowl and turn it over. Dust it off with a dry cloth or clean dry artist paintbrush and you are ready to paint it.

Dust the pot with a dry rag

Next, simply add any paint you desire to the inside and outside of the bowl. I am using some wall paint I had laying around the house by Sherwin Williams called Repose Gray. But you can use chalk paint, acrylic paint, milk paint, or pretty much any kind of paint.

Paint the heart tray with neutral colored paint

Now you can go one step further and add a design inside the bowl or another good idea is to brush on some Rub ‘n Buff like I did on the heart garland but I wanted a simple bowl that would show off the beautiful textured pattern. The fun part is all the different ways you can decorate your heart-shaped bowl. The end results are as unique as you are.

Conclusion

What did you think of this simple, how to make clay bowls, project? It is truly very easy and does not take a lot of time. I want to encourage you to give it a try.

Here are a few fun ideas for decorating with your air-dry clay heart-shaped bowl. These little bowls are the perfect size to use in a bathroom as a jewelry bowl.

Today we are creating a vintage-inspired heart garland DIY, one of my favorite Valentine's day decorations. It is an easy, fun project using air-dry clay. If you love hearts, vintage, and decorating for Valentine's day then you will fall in love with this romantic holiday decoration. It's a Valentine's day craft the whole family can make together.

Heart garland DiY

For years I have decorated our hutch for Valentine's day with this doily heart garland that I also made. However, this year I wanted to break the tradition and do a different Valentine's day decoration so I went looking for a new, great idea. I wanted a Valentine garland that still says vintage, old-fashioned, and charming.

In addition to my new design idea, I wanted to make something with air-dry clay. I saw on Pinterest a gift idea using air-dry clay and I couldn't wait to give it a try. This is one of my new favorite Valentine projects. And it was the easiest thing!

Let's just say I am seriously hooked. The air-dry clay creates beautiful 3-D hearts. It is definitely one of my new favorite things. Full disclosure – you might be seeing more easy DIY projects with this medium in the near future. LOL!

Okay, so enough about how this heart garland DIY came to be — let's get started making a Valentine garland for your home too.

Easy Vintage Heart Garland DIY

Start by gathering all your craft supplies. Here is a checklist of what you will need. Once you have all these items on hand then you can get started.

Shop Supplies:

How to Work with Air-Dry Clay

The first step is to grab a small piece of the air-dry clay and start rolling it around in the palm of your hand. Rolling it between your hands is a simple way to warm the air-dry clay.

how to work with air dry clay

When the clay is all warmed up you can easily start shaping it into what you want it to be. For this project, your next step is to press the ball of clay onto the parchment paper. Keep pressing with the palm of your hand until it is thinned out to about a quarter of an inch.

Pressing out air dry clay on parchment paper to make a DIY heart garland

After that, take your dowel and start rolling from the center outwards. Next, turn the clay and roll some more from the center. Keep doing this until it is as thin as you want it.

.

Take your heart-shaped cookie cutter and press it down onto the clay. I like to use both large heart and small heart-shaped cookie cutters. Once you have it pressed through the clay, twist it slightly right and left, then pull the cookie cutter straight up.

Cookie cutter air dry clay decoration

Remove the excess dough from the outside of the heart.

diy clay hearts

Carefully lift the heart from the parchment paper.

Gently tap the edges of the clay heart to smooth it out.

Add holes on each side at the top of the heart. I find the easiest thing to use is a toothpick, however, you can use the yarn needle. Make sure that your yarn needle will fit through the hole by simply placing the tip of the needle down into the hole. If there is plenty of room, you are good to go.

Adding holes to air dry clay hearts for a Valentine garland

Repeat these steps to make nine hearts or more depending on the length of our garland. Make sure you have enough hearts that the garland can hang to your desired depth. After that, let your hearts dry for 2 to 3 days.

Painting Air Dry Clay Valentine Hearts

Now that your hearts are dry and hard it's time to paint them and give them a romantic vintage finish. First, use a pale neutral color to paint them. Feel free to use what you have on hand. I used Sherwin Williams agreeable gray house paint. LOL!

You can use chalk paint, acrylic paint, or pretty much anything you have. If you need to purchase paint I would suggest acrylic paint. It is cheap and easy to find.

Simply use an artist brush and brush on a small amount of paint at a time until you have covered the heart. Let it dry or use a blow dryer to dry it quickly.

Next, grab the Rub ‘n Buff and dab a clean, lint-free cloth with the gold paste, rub a little out on the parchment paper. Rub ‘n buff is one of my favorite things. It is a special paint that gives anything a vintage finish.

Rub n Buff gold leaf paint

Starting on one side of the heart, simply brush the gold finish across the heart and repeat until you have applied the vintage gold finish on the whole heart.

Rub n Buff gold leaf vintage heart garland

When brushing across the clay with your rag, the gold will adhere to all the raised areas and this will give it that old-fashioned vintage look.

Be as light-handed as possible. The main thing is that you don't want to press down too much where the gold goes down into the grooves.

Stringing a Valentine Heart Garland

Once your hearts are finished, it is time to string your vintage heart garland. Start by determining how long you want your garland to be and cut some embroidery floss that length.

Lay out your hearts on a table. I used both large heart and small heart-shaped cookie cutters, so I laid out my hearts on the table, alternating large hearts and small hearts, to see how they would look.

Vintage Clay Heart Garland

Thread your floss onto a yarn needle and tie one end with a loop for hanging. Then start running the thread in on the top of one side of the first heart and then under and up on the other side.

I like to have a larger heart at each end. Repeat this on the next heart and continue until you have all the hearts threaded with twine. I like to ensure there is a heart in the very middle and then I split half of the hearts on each side.

You are all finished making a vintage Valentine's day heart garland.

Such a simple, fun Valentine's day craft!

Conclusion

Now for the fun part! Finding a place to hang your clay hearts. One of my favorite places to hang garlands, and a Valentine's day tradition at my house, is on our antique hutch.

Gold leaf heart garland

I simply placed it on the hutch along with other garlands I made like this pom garland, placing the pom garland just a bit above the top of the hearts. I have all the details on how to make a pom pom garland if you want to make one too.

  2. Pat it out on a piece of parchment paper on a flat surface
  3. Roll out the clay from the center turning the clay as you go until it is a thin layer of clay.
  4. Next, using a toothpick or the yarn needle make two holes on the top. One on the upper right and one on the upper left.
  5. Repeat these steps making 9 hearts for a garland that will hang on a hutch.
  6. Let the clay dry for 2 to 3 days.
  7. After the clay is dry simply brush an off white paint color on one side of the clay heart and then let it dry
  8. Next dab a tiny bit of gold leaf Rub n Buff on a lint-free cloth. Remove excess on the parchment paper. Then with a light hand brush the gold color across the heart. The gold will pick up all the clay that is on the top.
  9. Measure how long you want your garland to be and cut a piece of embroidery floss.
  10. Tie one end with a loop for hanging
  11. Thread the embroidery floss with the yarn needle.
  12. Lay your hearts on a table in the pattern you want them to go when you hang the garland.
  13. Start with the first heart and run the needle through the top of the right side and then up the back through the left side.
  14. Repeat until all the hearts are strung on the embroidery thread.
  15. Tie a loop into the other end and you are ready to hang your vintage minimalist Valentine's heart garland.

Let's take a closer look at Valentine's Day porch decor ideas!

FARMHOUSE VALENTINE'S DAY PORCH DECOR IDEAS

I like to keep it simple with decorations for Valentine's day but I still love to bring out lots of love in our decor because this is a time to show those you love how much they mean to you. A great way to do that is through decorations on your front door, porch, or stoop.

Let's get started as I walk you through simple steps to add cottage farmhouse Valentine's decor to your small or large front porch. Here are the supplies you will need to decorate your porch for Valentine's day. If this is your first time decorating for Valentine's Day, you may find you have some of these supplies on hand or you can find them in craft stores.

  • Small rug
  • Doormat
  • Wreath (I made my wreath from Dollar Tree items)
  • Chair (I am using an old french style bistro chair)
  • Galvanized bucket
  • Roses
  • Small chalkboard sign
  • Chalkpaint marker

DOLLAR STORE HEART SHAPED WREATH DIY

One way to keep costs down is to make a wreath with dollar store items. This is one of my favorite DIY projects. This heart shaped wreath DIY was created from a Dollar Tree heart wreath and hung with my directions on how to hang a wreath with ribbon. A pretty wreath can set the tone for your whole porch.

how to make a heart shaped wreath for Valentine's day and hang it on your front porch door

I love that it's a subtle way of representing love day. I have more directions on my how to make a heart shaped wreath post if you would like to make one too.

Your heart wreath can feature the colors and flowers that reflect your love and the green leaves hold the promise of spring. They even make great gifts! You can personalize your heart wreath with pretty hearts or fairy lights, whatever puts you in the Valentine's Day spirit.

Small Front Porch Valentine Decorations

Now for the easy part and that is placing a chair on your front porch. A great idea is to see what you have around to use. I had this old antique vintage french bistro chair in my garage. It is the perfect addition to the porch because it is so thin and minimal.

Maybe you have a cute bright red chair or something similar. I also had a cool idea to use this small, chalkboard sign to make a Valentine's porch sign. You can decorate it with a sweet message, red or pink hearts; your Valentine’s Day sign will surely brighten someone's day.

Farmhouse small front porch Valentine decor ideas

Small porches need to show as much negative space as possible this chair did the trick. It is thin and holds up great to weather.

Simply add a chair and then add an old galvanized bucket of flowers on top. Roses and other pink or red flowers have Valentine's day written all over them. Mixing the different shades and colors can add depth to your arrangement. Since it is chilly outside I thought sitting flowers at my front door will let them last longer than inside my dry warm home.

Valentine's Day antique Porch Decor Ideas

Guess what? They have stayed absolutely beautiful. I did add the plant food that comes with the grocery store flowers to the water but between the cool air and the food, they are doing wonderful. It turned out to be the perfect time of year to keep them looking great. What a great way to brighten things up in the winter months.

Where is the best place to buy fresh flowers?

My favorite place to purchase flowers is grocery stores and a few other places. I have a whole post on the best places to buy flowers.

Valentine's Day Farm Porch Decor Ideas

Next, toss a few of those flowers either from the wreath peonies or the bucket full of roses in other areas like this adorable dog statue. He's a great addition to celebrate special occasions and seasons.

Valentine's Day Porch Decor Ideas of a dog with flowers

These are the flowers and greenery left over from the wreath. I added a little raffia to the bottom of the basket and then the greenery and flowers. Super simple.

One last note about the fresh roses. I did bring them in on nights when the temperature is freezing.

Valentine's Day Porch Layered Rugs

Front doors need a rug for people to wipe their feet so why not make it pretty. Here I layered a Target herringbone rug with a message doormat.

Front porch Valentine's day layered rug ideas

The herringbone rug was black and white but I wanted to soften the black. I painted chalk paint over the black areas and it did the trick.

If you are wondering if the chalk paint will hold up I have a DIY rug out of a drop cloth and chalk paint post where I painted a porch accent rug with chalk paint and it held up great and washed very nicely. It's an inexpensive way to bring new life to old decor.

ENTRYWAY VALENTINE DECORATIONS

I like to teach that your front porch is a snippet of what is to come inside. So let your front porch decorations slip just inside the door.

Entryway filled with Valentine basket and flowers

You can utilize your existing home decor. We have an old bench just inside so it is the perfect spot to add a few love decorations. You can add a basket with flowers, pillows, or anything your heart desires.

I added a hanging basket with flowers.

Now that you have your simple small front porch decorated for Valentine's day the last thing I want to recommend is to save some of the petals from the roses and sprinkle them around the floor of the porch.

With families spending more time at home nowadays I thought some easy and fun family Valentine dinner ideas will bring joy into our homes. Whether you have kids at home or not this Valentine's Day tablescape is perfect for two or more.
Family Valentine dinner ideas

These family Valentine dinner ideas will bring a smile to everyone's face. You will find a scrumptious fancy cupcake place setting idea, a gingerbread village Valentine centerpiece idea and along the runner is a fun activity for the whole family plus menu ideas.

This Valentine's day tablescape can be easily transformed into a romantic table for two or if you have a large family you can simply add more chairs and make the runner longer.

So let's jump into the steps on how to make Valentine's dinner table for the family.

This post contains affiliate links, meaning I receive a commission if you purchase using the links below at no extra cost to you. All opinions are all my own.

FAMILY VALENTINE DINNER IDEAS

Before you start planning the menu for your Valentine's day dinner let's talk about the table. This is my favorite part! Here is what you will need.

Shop Supplies:

Valentine's Day Table Decorations

Because this table is for families that means it needs to be kid-friendly. Both fun and easy to clean up.

Kid Friendly Valentine's Table Runner

So for the tablecloth consider a roll of white paper. Simply slide it down the center of the table and let it hang over generously down each side.

Valentine kid friendly table runner idea using paper and seersucker

Next, pick up some seersucker from the fabric store and run it down the center of the table. I purchased one yard and cut it in half then gathered one side from the center to the ends and then the same on the other side.

Family Valentine tablescape runner ideas

As you can see the seersucker runner only hangs over about 10″ on the sides.

Valentine's Centerpiece

Next, let's create an inexpensive centerpiece that you can use as a decoration in your home too. Begin by painting a charger from the Dollar Tree with white chalk paint or acrylic paint and place it in the center.

Valentine centerpiece idea for the whole family

Then pick up a round cake pan and paint the outside then turn it upside down on the charger.

Next place Valentine's wooden gingerbread village in the center around the edge. Here are directions on how to make Valentine's wooden gingerbread houses. They are very easy to make using a 2 x 4 piece of wood and paint.

Gingerbread village Valentine centerpiece for the family table

Now grab battery powered mini lights and put the battery pack right in the middle and then start working the light around the outside of the village using tape to keep it down.

Finally, add some Easter grass around the village. I used the grass from my girl's Easter baskets. Any color grass would be pretty.

Valentine's Place Settings

The place setting is a more personal centerpiece for each person. I love to create place-setting decorations where each guest or family member gets a keepsake.

This year I found adorable cupcake stands and went on the search for a show-stopping cupcake. After asking friends on my Instagram for recommendations in my area I was lead to Les Cheris bakery. Wow! Wait until we finish this place setting so you can see this delectable little treasure.

Begin by placing a charger or larger plate. I used Coton Colors ruffled buffalo check plate from my Christmas tree centerpiece post. An idea to save a few dollars is to purchase more Dollar Tree chargers and paint a buffalo check on them.

Valentine dinner place setting using buffalo check red and white ruffle plates by Coton Colors

Next, add a paper or linen napkin and a white plate on top. These white plates came from Dollar Tree. You cannot beat Dollar Tree on these plates.

Now place the cupcake stands on each plate just off-center because we are going to make heart doily envelopes now to sit next to the cupcake stand.

How to Make Heart Doily Envelopes

You will be so surprised at how easy it is to make envelopes from heart doilies. Simply take the largest heart doily and follow the lines and arrows on this photo.

How to make envelopes from heart doilies

You simply fold the sides in first. Then the top-down and using a glue stick run glue from top to bottom and fold it over. Actually, I fold it over first and score the edges then run the glue inside and fold it back over.

Then I lay something heavy on it like a book and give it about 10 minutes to dry real good. After that, I fold the top down and score the edge again then place it on the plate next to the cupcake stand.

Homemade heart doily envelope

Now back to the place setting. Place your silverware then your glass or cups. This all depends on who is sitting at your table. If you want to make a kid-friendly fancy Valentine table then I would consider clear disposable cups.

Family Valentine's day table setting

Valentine's Dinner Family Activity

I love incorporating activities with tablescapes and this one will give everyone an opportunity to spread some kindness and is apart of the table runner.

Simply run twine down the center of the table and add painted clothespins about three inches apart. You will need to slide the twine under the centerpiece or you can add it before you start building the centerpiece.

Next paint the tips of clothespins using Valentine colors. I used different shades of muted pinks and muted yellow.

Valentine's day table runner with twine and clothespins

Last, add the medium and small size doilies to each clothespin. Doesn't this look pretty?

Family Valentine's day tablescape with heart doilies and clothespin table runner

Now after dinner, each person can write a love note, word of encouragement, thank you, or whatever is on their heart to anyone they want on the doily and put it in the envelope to give to someone special.

Valentine's Cupcake Place Setting Centerpiece

This table was calling for a cupcake that would steal the show. It has to be a larger cupcake at 4″ and even though it is smaller than a cake it needed a fancy cake appearance like a wedding cake.

I was so happy when I found Les Cheris bakery! Their cakes are amazing and the best part is that they can accommodate gluten and dairy-free. Talk about a win-win!

They came up with these sweet treasures and it was the icing on the cake if you know what I mean.

Valentine's day cupcake by Les Cherie place setting centerpiece on a family Valentine tablescape

If you are in the Tallahassee area this you can find more about them on the Les Cheris website. If you are not in this area let me recommend making or purchasing a 4″ cupcake and adding cookies and chocolate-covered strawberries to the top. The main thing is to jazz up your cupcake with details.

valentine day dinner for family

This cupcake has a heart shaped macaron, chocolate covered strawberry with edible gold foil, pink icing rose, red starts and dusted with glitter.

Once you have your cupcakes place them on the cupcake stand just before dinner is about to be served or if you have toddlers you can bring out the cupcakes after dinner.

valentine dinner ideas for kids

Aren't they the most beautiful cupcakes you have ever seen?!!

Now guess what? We are all finished with this family Valentine's day dinner tablescape so let's talk about the menu.

Family dinner Valentine's Menu Ideas

Cooking is not my best subject but my friend Mel has you covered when it comes to the menu. She has loads of dinner ideas on her website Adventures of Mel and a strawberry cupcake on Flours on my Fingers.

She is a great place to start when planning your menu.

Now that you have a family dinner table idea and a Valentine menu here are more photos of the family Valentine table decorations.

Shopping for a wreath like this modern farmhouse spring wreath is easy because Debra has all holidays and everything from lambs ear wreaths to peonies, magnolias, minimalist wreaths and the list goes on.

Custom Signature Necklace Gift Idea

Best gift ideas for her of a capsul signature necklace

Let me explain how touching this gift is going to be when you give it to your loved ones. This Capsul necklace is created from a persons' writing.

You can send in a word written from someone who means the world to your loved one and Capsul Jewelry will make it into a necklace, bracelet, ring, and the list goes on.

Is this the sweetest gift idea you have ever heard of? I am pretty sure I would cry if I got a gift like this one.

Home Decor or Entertaining Book Gift Ideas for Her

Valentine gift idea for her of Reese Witherspoon Whiskey in a Teacup

When I came across this book I knew it would make the perfect I love you gift for her.

Reese Witherspoon's Whiskey in a Teacup book is filled with beautiful pages, tips, and ideas for keeping a southern home. Something about the pages makes me feel so good inside when I pick up to read it.

If you like these ideas I have more in my best interior design books for beginners post.

Best Valentine Chocolate Gift Ideas

I love you gifts for her with a subscription of delicious scones

I cannot leave out a sweet treat for Valentine's day and this is the best chocolate Valentine gift idea. If you are looking for something that will make her tastebud explode then give her the gift of Seven Sister Scones.

Seven Sister Scones is a wonderful bakery that will send individually wrapped scones right to your door or her door. Haha!

You can order the scones and add them to her breakfast in bed tray. She will love you for this!!

Tiered Tray Gift Idea for Her

Tiered trays are still so popular and fun to decorate with on holidays like Valentine's day. I have loads of ideas in this Valentines tiered trays post.

This two-tiered wood tray would be so fun paired with a gift card from Etsy so she can go shopping for accessories to decorate her tray.

Monogrammed Personalized Valentine's Gifts for Her

There are so many possibilities when it comes to anything monogrammed but this bracelet caught my eye.

In fact, there are so many wonderful Valentine ideas on Jane.com which is my favorite discount boutique online. A little you need to know about Jane.com is that they turn over their items every two days. So if you see something you want to give as a gift make sure to go ahead and purchase it.

Or if you don't see anything today check back tomorrow because they will have something new.

Bags Make Great Gifts for Her

Erin is a proud military spouse and started sewing gifts for friends and family and so began an adventure.

Monograms can be added to her gorgeous clutches, makeup bags or key chains, and many other items for that extra personal touch!

Erin also has a precious “Mommy and Me” line of makeup bags and scarves, so if you're looking for your husband to get you and your sweet little diva something, this would be perfect!

Farmhouse Sign Gift Ideas

Gnomes are super popular right now and if you are looking for a fun gift idea for her this one is super cheap too. This gnome, There's Gnome One Like You Valentine, is a printable so all you have to do is print it, frame it, and give it as a gift.

There are many more downloads in my Life on Summerhill shop or you can search around on Etsy just the right one. Here is another farmhouse sign idea that can be hung year-round.

Vintage Gift Ideas for her

We feel like not all Valentine gifts have to be red and have hearts all over it.

We love the idea of knowing the person you're shopping for and getting them something they will love as much as you adore them! Does your loved one love the look of vintage decorations? How about this unique queen bee honey pot from Shady Oaks Farm.

So if you loved one loves vintage then Shady Oaks Farm is a great place to shop.

Basket Gift Ideas for Her

If your loved one loves baskets as much as I do then she will adore this french market basket. I have one of these and it gets used all the time.

I take it with me when I shop markets to hold antiques and vintage items I purchase. I also love to use it when preparing an outdoor dinner like when I prepared this Thanksgiving dinner table ideas.

Also, consider handmade baskets. The mission at Sewcialite is to create unique and one of a kind items using natural materials just like this beautiful and modern rope bowl.

Rope bowls can be used for many purposes including wall decor, fruit bowls, catch-all bowl, shelf decor, and more. Giving your loved one a handmade item for Valentine's Day will say I love you for many years to come.

Pillow Gift Ideas for Valentine's Day

Farm to Table Creations on Etsy has the prettiest pillow cover gift ideas for her. If you or someone you know is looking to update the appearance of their pillows from season to season or holiday to holiday, this is a perfect place to start.

Isn't this buffalo check love heart pillow cover adorable!!

Kelly also has many everyday pillow cover ideas. The options are endless for your farmhouse style lover.

Valentine Subscription Box Gift Ideas for Her

Someone pinch me because these are the best Valentine flowers ever!!

Look carefully because these are not any ordinary flowers these are a bouquet of flowers that will arrive on her doorstep once a month for a year.

This is the best Valentine floral idea I have ever come across. So if you really want to make an impression then give her a subscription box of flowers every month.

Heart shaped DIY Dollar Tree wreath

I love adding holiday wreaths to our small front porch door and after finishing this wreath I couldn't wait to show you how to make a heart shaped wreath using Dollar Tree items. All you need is a few craft supplies and you can make your own heart-shaped wreath.

HOW TO MAKE A HEART SHAPED WREATH

I am so excited to share this DIY Dollar Tree Valentine wreath. I had so much fun making this DIY heart wreath and it is an easy craft for beginners so don't worry if it's your first time attempting something like this. Let's grab a few supplies and get started. I found my heart wreath at the Dollar Store but you may find one at your local craft store.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO MAKE A HEART SHAPED WREATH?

Supplies for a DIY Dollar Tree Valentine wreath

DIY DOLLAR TREE VALENTINE WREATH

Now that you have all your supplies begin by cutting all the foil stuff off of the frame of the heart-shaped wreath form.

1. CLEAN DOLLAR TREE HEART WREATH FRAME

Take your scissors and start cutting around a small area of the foil. Once you are down to the frame cut the wire piece that the foil is attached to.

Cut foil from a Dollar Tree Valentine heart wreath

Now that the tiny wire has been cut start unwinding the foil garland from around the frame.

Unwind the foil from the heart shaped Valentine wreath from Dollar Tree

I discovered that this frame was plastic, pink, and had teeth on it. I removed the stuff sticking out after I made the wreath. But learn from me, I would remove the teeth before I started adding greenery. It will save you a hard time to only have the heart form.

How to make a heart shaped wreath using a Dollar Tree foil wreath

Another thing that will be pretty is to paint the frame gold or silver with spray paint. The pink looks nice but I think gold would be very pretty.

2. ATTACH GREENERY TO HEART WREATH

Now take a piece of greenery and use the wire cutters to snip off the end close to where the branches shoot off. Then lay the greenery piece on the frame starting at the bottom of the heart and zip tie it to the frame.

Add greenery to this DIY Dollar Tree heart wreath

Repeat this process moving around the heart shape and tucking the next sprig of greenery that you can cut under the last piece of greenery.

Continue moving around the heart and zip tieing wherever the greenery needs help curving with the frame.

Curve greenery around the frame of a heart wreath

When you get to the bottom make sure you place the greenery in such a way so that you do not see the end. Tuck it under where you began.

3. ADD FLOWERS TO THE VALENTINE WREATH

Next start pruning and positioning the flowers. Simply cut the stem off of the flowers. I love how real faux flowers look today, amazing!

Then add glue along the base and stick it into the greenery. I started with the larger flower first.

Then added the smaller peonies on the side with three peonies in total. Look at those pretty pink flowers!

Next, I added short stems of baby breath dipping the end into some glue from the glue gun on the plate then tucking it under the artificial flowers. Remember, a little bit of glue is all you need.

Adding babies breath under peonies on DIY Dollar Tree wreath

Once I had a few stems under the flowers I started repeating this step moving my way up the side of the heart and down under the peonies.

I did not add any flowers to the other half of the heart wreath.

Last take any pieces of greenery or cut leaves from stems and glue them over any zip ties that are showing.

Guess what? The wreath is finished! I think this is such a pretty wreath. The best part is when you get to hang it and admire your accomplishment.

So I simply ran white ribbon through the hole and hung it with my how to hang a wreath with ribbon technique. This technique is an easy way to hang all your cute wreaths using a long piece of ribbon.

Garden Party Decoration Ideas

Are you ready to create this special occasion lovely garden tablescape? I cannot wait to walk you through the steps. But before we jump into supplies think about a color theme and pick an outdoor space for your party.

Consider a spot that is level for your table. It will make things more comfortable for friends and family. The outdoor area I used was my back patio. It is just outside my back door and near my kitchen which will make life easier.

Next, since my outdoor table is inspired by rose pattern dishes I knew my color scheme would be pink and green. What is your color theme? Once you have your colour scheme let's grab some supplies and get started.

What Do You Need For an Outdoor Garden Party?

Outdoor Garden Party Decorations

So now that we have all our supplies let's jump right into setting up your table. But first, how do you make a garden party fun?

How Do You Make a Garden Party Fun?

Probably the most important aspect of making this garden party fun is checking the weather forecast. Find a warm day that has no rain. If there is one thing that will dampen your backyard garden party is rain.

Also, if it is a cloudy day with no rain that is even better but if the skies are clear find a shady spot for your table. To warm days can dampen a party too. It will make all the difference if your guests are shaded. However, if you have cool evenings in the forecast simply encourage your guests to dress warm.

Last, plan ahead and plan to have everything ready at least an hour before the guests arrive. A great way to have fun is when your guests arrive let go of anything that is exactly as planned and focus on your friends and family and enjoy their company.

If there is one thing that will make any party fun that is if the hostess is having fun. So enjoy your people.

Farmhouse Dining Table and French Bistro Chairs

Because this dining table is covered you can just about do anything for a table option however, if you are feeling in the mood to make a farmhouse table I have the perfect directions on my website. Or you can use simple picnic tables.

Farmhouse table and french folding bistro chairs on a back patio.

But if you are looking for something much easier consider a folding table or even a piece of wood held up with saw horses as we did at this nurse's graduation party.

Just like the table you have unlimited options for chairs. You can bring every dining chair, break nook table chair, makeup table chair, desk chair, and the list goes on. Or you can use french folding bistro chairs as I show here.

Layered Tablecloth

Now that you have your table in place let's start adding the beautiful tablecloths. I love being creative when planning out a table clothes. For this table, I used a white ruffled sheet. I put the ruffle on the end that people would see the most.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner

Next, I folded a piece of pastel pink and white striped seersucker fabric to act as a runner down the middle of the table.

If you have a dark table under the table cloth or sheet simply add another sheet under it to get that crisp white look.

Dessert Rose and White Plates

After your table linens are neatly on the table place your main plate which in my case was Franciscan Desert Rose. I picked these dishes because they go great with the garden party decoration look and they belonged to my mom.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes

Once you have your main plates on the table then site a white salad plate in the middle.

Stemless Champagne Flutes and Silverware

Let's start with the silverware. Begin by placing the knife on the right and the spoon next to it. Then place the fork on the left. I like to line up my silverware along with the bottom of the plate making sure the plate is close to the edge of the table.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes with a white salad plate in the middle. Then add silverware.

Next on this garden themed tablescape list are the stemless champagne flutes. I particularly like using the wine glasses because they are narrow and do not take up much room which on this small table space is a premium. Plus clear glasses will look pretty with a cold drink like the lemonade recipe I mention at the end

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes with a white salad plate in the middle. Then add champagne glasses

Simply place the glasses just above the knife on the table.

Garden Party Place Setting Idea

Now we are getting to the good part and that is the garden party place setting feel for each guest. I love creating something custom and something that each guest can take home.

For this garden party design, I placed a linen napkin folded in thirds and then folding the top down. I placed the napkin in the center of the plate with the tail handing down over the side of the plate and table.

Garden party decoration ideas using white linen tablecloth, pink and white runner and desert rose dishes with a white salad plate in the middle with a folded linen napkin and a wooden laser cut name of guest.

Then I sat a lovely laser cut name party favors for each guest onto the folded part of the linen napkins. Everyone will have a special something to take home.

Garden Party Centerpiece

This is where decorating a table for a family gets fun! And the best part about this great garden party centerpiece is its simplicity and fresh flowers. It is a good idea to wait just before guest arrive to place the fresh roses on the centerpiece.

This easy to make garden themed centerpiece focal point starts with a flat brim straw hat that has a rim around the edge. Simply place the garden straw hat in the middle of the table. Then take some jasmine vines or any green leaf vine will do and sprinkle the vine around the hat.

Garden party decoration ideas using a straw hat as a centerpiece with fresh green vine around the brim of the hat.

Next cut some roses off from the stem and place them around the hat. There are different varieties of roses you can choose or you can use any kind of fresh flower.

Garden party decoration ideas using a straw hat as a centerpiece with fresh green vine around the brim of the hat and fresh pink roses.

I used some roses from my sister's garden which make this centerpiece even more special because she has always been a mother figure in my life.

And before you know it your garden party table is complete. The best part about this table is that you probably have all the pieces in your home and you don't have to go to the store.

Garden party decoration ideas using a straw hat as a centerpiece with fresh green vine around the brim of the hat and fresh pink roses.

Another fun idea if you have enough roses is to add a rose to each place setting. This really gives it a garden party tablescape feel.

Garden Themed Party Ideas

Okay so now you have the basics for an easy garden party idea so let's think about all the events you can create this secret garden table design around. You can use it for garden parties for adults like bridal showers and birthdays. Or you can use it for a summer sit-down dinner outside or a spring lunch or brunch.

This tablescape would be great for Mother's day, a kids tea party, Valentine's Day, Easter and so much more.

What is Free Printable Art?

Just in case you are new to the free printable art world, let me explain what it is. Many websites like this create beautiful custom designs and share them for free. It's an easy way to decorate your home for the season.

On this website, the printables are free, and all you have to do is subscribe to my email to have access. Once you have access, you can check back anytime to print designs for any project.

Some people use them for cards, centerpieces, or wall hangings like the one in this project.

So keep checking back monthly because more printables are coming. Now let's waste no more time and show you how to make this charming wall art piece using ribbon.

Printable Wall Art Supplies

You can print them out on your home printer or take them to your local print shop for printing. Please note – these free printables are intended for personal use only.

Now that you have your custom art, gather all the supplies listed below.

Free printable wall art DIY

Cut Free Printable Art

This project only takes a few simple steps. The first step in preparing your wall hanging is to cut the printables the same size or a little smaller than the canvas or wood cuttings.

Free printable wall art DIY beginning with cutting the printables.
Free printable wall art DIY

I had some wood leftover from making a barn quilt, so I decided to use the leftover wood for this project. But you can be creative and use just about anything, even cardboard.

.

Cut Background

Now that you have the size of your printables, cut your wood, canvas, cardboard, or anything that you can paint and glue your printable art to.

Free printable wall art DIY wood cutting to attach the printable to with decoupage.

If you are using wood like me, you can have the pieces cut at a hardware store or if you have a miter saw, you can cut it yourself as I did.

Free printable wall art DIY wood cutting to attach the printable to with decoupage.

Sit your printable on the wood and mark where you want to cut it. This made it much easier for me to decide where to cut. Mark and measure all boards, then cut.

Paint the Background

Depending on the type of background, you may need some primer. My background was plain wood, so I used Fusion mineral paint. But if your background is reusable or has knots in it, then I would paint on a primer.

Free printable wall art DIY wood cutting to attach the printable to with decoupage.

Once your background is dry, you can start to adhere the printable to it.

Decoupage Free Printable

The next step is easy. Simply take your craft paintbrush and spread some decoupage to the backside of the free printable art. Then brush on some decoupage to the board.

Free printable wall art DIY wood cutting to attach the printable to with decoupage.

This is the best way I've found to do it. Applying the adhesive to both helps it stick better.

Now position your printable onto the backdrop and smooth it down from the center outwards. I used another piece of paper to smooth it into place.

Free printable wall art DIY wall hanging. This step includes attaching the printable to a piece of wood with decoupage.

Next, take your paintbrush and work the decoupage under the edges. I did this by moving strokes from the outside inward. Then swirl more decoupage around over the printable art.

Free printable wall art DIY wall hanging. This step includes attaching the printable to a piece of wood with decoupage.

Let this dry for hours. I like to let it dry overnight to be safe. Isn't this a beautiful print?

Attach the Art to Ribbon

In the next step, line up your art one over the other with the same distance in between. Measure out of ribbon and double it, then lay it under the art.

Free printable wall art DIY wall hanging project. Place all the printables that are attached to a wood background onto some ribbon.

Next, turn all the art pieces over and lay the ribbon on top of the backside of the art.

Free printable wall art DIY wall hanging project. Place all the printables that are attached to a wood background onto some ribbon.

Now staple the ribbon to the wood or glue it if you use a canvas or cardboard and then staple it at the top and bottom of each art piece.

Free printable wall art DIY wall hanging project. Attached the ribbon to the wood frames with a staple gun.

Attach Binder Ring

We are down to the last step, which is to attach the binder ring to the ribbon loop at the top. The binder ring is how you will hang the free printable wall art.

Free printable wall art DIY wall hanging project. After attaching the ribbon to the wood frames loop a wire binder hook through the top of the ribbon and close it for hanging.

Simply open the ring, thread it through the loop, and then close it back.

Well, I forgot about one more thing. You will need to trim the ribbon on the bottom either at an angle or a v shape. Your set of printables is now beautiful new wall art.

Hang Your Free Printable Wall Art

Now that you have some custom art, it is time to decide where to put it. A great place to put your art is on a small piece of a wall like I have here by my front door. It's the perfect size for this smaller size space. This would also make a perfect gift for a housewarming.

Free printable wall art DIY wall hanging using gingerbread houses for Valentine day.

You can also hang it on a gallery wall. A gallery wall is perfect when you have larger size areas of blank walls. The living room, dining room, or a kid's room are all great places for a gallery wall. Here is a post on how to hang a gallery wall. Or another post on gallery wall ideas.

There are so many possibilities.

Conclusion

See how easy it is to create custom wall art with one of my free printables? The great thing is how flexible printables are. There are so many different ways to use free prints without spending much money. You could even change them out each season or holiday for fun. It's hard to think of a better way to decorate. Free art prints are a perfect, inexpensive way to celebrate each season with beautiful images.

I have some other ideas using free printable art. There are so many different designs to choose from and you can put your personal touch on it.

Check out this botanical art prints project using beautiful distressed white frames, pumpkin DIY wall hanging, or this adorable patriotic banner that would look amazing in a little boy's room. It's so much fun!

Free printable banner in distressed fabric patterns of chambray, red and white stripes, floral pattern and red and white gingham.

There are many more ideas, shop through the free printable library, and once you find a printable you like, do a search, and it will take you to the framing project created for the printable.

Remember me asking if you love free things? Well, all these printables are my gift to you for being the greatest community any blogger could ask for. You are going to LOVE these ideas!!! 😉

Decorate for Valentines

After getting your house in order from Christmas most people are not ready to decorate but Valentine's day is perfect for just a few love accessories blended into your current decor.

In fact, most of us love decorating with gingerbread houses so why not leave them out until after Valentine's day.

But what cupid inspired decorations should you use? Well, there are many options at the store but I think homemade is a little more special which is why I came up with this simple wooden Valentine's gingerbread house DIY.

Wooden Valentine's Gingerbread House DIY

So what is a wooden Valentine's gingerbread house or village? Well, it is basically 2 x 4 pieces of woodcut and painted with a cute whimsical house design.

A traditional gingerbread house has Christmas written all over it but adds a few pink or red hearts and magically you have Valentine's day inspired structures.

So now that you know what Valentine's gingerbread house is let's get started making these easy homes with a few supplies.

Wooden Gingerbread House Supplies

  • 2 x 4 wood (3′ of wood will make at least 4 or 5 houses)
  • White acrylic paint
  • Pink acrylic paint
  • Very thin artist or craft paintbrush
  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

Products from Amazon.com

Measure & Cut Wood

Your first step for this DIY is to determine how many houses you want and how high you want them. I cut mine anywhere from 8″ tall to 5″ tall.

Measure down your board and cut a straight edge. I would go ahead and cut all the houses with a straight edge.

Next, it is time to start cutting the pitch on the house. I cut all mine similar but you can even have some flat roofs. One of the roofs I accidentally cut one angle further over instead of the in the middle. It as a happy accident because it happens to be my favorite house now. Haha!

Wooden Valentine gingerbread house DIY starting by cutting 2 x 4 wood

Now that your houses cut let's start planning each house design.

Gingerbread House Design

The next step is fun! Grab a sheet of paper and set one of your houses on the paper. Trace around the edge.

Wooden Valentine Gingerbread house DIY

Next, use a pencil to draw a design on the paper. You can also use design as inspiration or look up more on Pinterest.

wooden Valentine gingerbread house DIY

I started with the door placement then drew in the windows. Then last I created swirls, lines, dots, and hearts to fill in between the door and windows or to top windows and such.

.

Draw on the House

Now it is time to paint. One thing to remember before you begin. These houses are whimsical, fun, and homemade so give yourself some grace when painting.

Another thing is to practice on paper or a board that you don't plan to use. This will help your hand to become familiar with the brush.

Okay, there are two ways you can paint these doors and windows on the house. You can use some chalk and draw the design that way if you make a mistake you can erase it and try again or you can start painting freehand.

If you use a pencil to draw on the wood it is a little challenging to cover with paint. Chalk seems to be the best solution if you want to draw it on first.

Paint White on the Wood

Now put a tiny bit of paint on your super thin paintbrush and start drawing in the door. Next draw in the windows and then the swirls, dots, and hearts.

Paint white on your wooden gingerbread houses

Here is a picture of the thin paintbrush I used. I feel the fewer and shorter bristles the better. And the more pointed the brush the better.

Paint a thin line of white for the doors, windows, swirls, dots and such on the Valentine DIY wood gingerbread house

Paint Pink on the Wood

Next, add your pink hearts wherever you have hearts planned. These little pink hearts are important because they are the details that make this Valentine's gingerbread house.

Paint pink hearts and some dots on your 2 x 4 Valentine wooden gingerbread houses

How to Decorate for Valentines

Guess what? It is time to start decorating with your sweet little gingerbread houses. Here are a few ideas of where I placed them.

Valentine Mantle Decor Ideas

Let's start with the mantle. If you are planning to use a few things to decorate with for Valentine's then your mantle is a great place to add decor.

wooden valentine gingerbread house mantle decoration

Add some garland to your mantle like this eucalyptus garland and toss in some tiny lights. Then all you have to do is create a centerpiece in the front with your houses.

See how simple this mantle design is for love day?

Valentine Hutch Decor Ideas

Another great place to add some holiday decor is your hutch or china cabinet.

Decorate for Valentine with wooden gingerbread houses nestled on a hutch and garland of heart shaped doilies, felt ball garland and yarn ball garland all in white.

And don't forget to add some garlands. Another really simple DIY is this heart doily garland.

Place your houses between dishes on each shelf. If you only have four or five houses then sit then in the center of each row.

If you have one leftover place it on the tabletop of the hutch. It will look really cut combines with some of your usual accessories.

Don't be afraid to place your houses behind the garlands. They will still look good peeking out from behind it.

Here is the overall look. I decided this will be the home of all my Valentine's village. Something about it makes me smile!

The faint subtle tones of the houses blend in so nicely.
