3 TIERED WOODEN STAND FULL OF HARVEST DECORATIONS

Fall comes a little late here in Florida, so an excellent way for us Floridians to get into the mood is to start bringing out some harvest decorations.  A great way to do that is with a 3 tiered wooden stand or commonly known as a tiered tray.

What is a tiered tray?

A tiered tray is a stand of shelves one layered on top of another.  The shelves are separated like this 3 tiered wooden stand.  You can find them in wood, metal, porcelain and more.

In the old days they were used to serve food, but today we are using them as decorations from holidays like fall and Christmas to a simple coffee station.

So, now that you know about tiered trays, would you like to make one?  Here are the steps for creating this treasure of harvest decorations in your home.

Getting Started

Pick your Tiered Tray

When selecting a tiered tray, choose a size that will fit the area it will sit throughout the year.  If space is limited in height, then go with a two-tiered tray for something shorter.

Also, consider how much counter space for the tray.  If you have plenty of room, then the sky is the limit on the width of the tray.

Gather Your Harvest Decorations

Grab any and all your fall decor.  Pull all different shapes, sizes, and heights of accessories.  Now think about your color scheme and textures.

Focal Point

Select one item and start in the center.  Think about an accessory that will stand out and call some attention to itself.  Start with this item and build everything from it.

Symmetry or A-symmetry

Determine if your fall tiered tray is going to have symmetry or asymmetry.  On this tray, I used a-symmetry by visually zig-zagging items across the tray.  Notice the white hydrangea is on the top left and then on the middle right.

Add Repetition and Gradation

Use items that create repetition and gradation.  Using two or more of the white pumpkins fit the repetition bill, and for gradation, there are different size white pumpkins.

Fill in the Gaps

Pop some filler accessories between the pumpkins, flowers, and greenery.  Like a wooden bead garland and such. Or if you're a lover of farmhouse style then add some Rae Dunn like this mug.  Using something with letter art gives your harvest decorations a voice.  This 3 tiered wooden stand is not complete with a little Rae Dunn. 😉  All these accessories add more textures and size to the trays.

Topper

Now all you need to do is add the icing on the cake or in this case something pretty or unique on the top.  In my case, I decided to use a candle.  It will create some nice ambiance when lite as well as an autumn aroma.

Conclusion

Moving on to the next holiday or season is very simple.  All you have to do is change out those items that are specific to the time of year.

Now it is your turn to create a lovely fall tiered tray. Just follow the steps below.
