This holiday season, try something different. Instead of going over the top with your Christmas decor, why not take the minimalist Christmas decorations route? Not quite sure what that even means or looks like? We have you taken care of in this post.
Minimalist Christmas Decorations

Maybe you are traveling over the Christmas holiday, but still, want a little Christmas in your home to bring some joy before you leave.

The minimalist Christmas decorations still bring beauty to your home, but it just adds a kiss of decor here and there instead of drowning you in red and green!

You can still have a tree in your home, but think small. This is a great way to not break the bank as well.

Anissa has captured the minimalist Christmas decorations by sticking to the concept of bringing lots of greenery into her home.

Pine branches and logs most likely even add the smell of Christmas into her home.

Stockings are still hung by the fireplace with care!

Christmas Tree Minimalist Style

The Merry Thought

This precious mini Christmas tree is wrapped in kraft paper and has tiny wooden ornaments adorning the branches; it reminds us of the mini tree on our front porch in our Christmas Home Tour post.

A few candles in place of twinkling lights add so much warmth to the picture without the need for tons of decorations.

Not to mention hanging garland on the wall instead of around the tree brings a simple beauty to this home.

Minimalist Christmas Centerpiece Idea

White Farmhouse

Chippy paint, glass bottles, and mini wooden trees all on a dining room table give us all the best feels in a farmhouse. Each tree is cute, unique, and has such a southern elegance.

The tiny evergreen wreath around a bottle adds a perfect pop of Christmas spirit.

Large Minimalist Christmas Tree

The minimalist Christmas tree look is perfect in this home.

The color palette is mostly made up of frosty whites, but the room looks so warm! The flocked Christmas tree with white lights is so inviting, and the single lit candle holds a delicate beauty.

And wrapping the base of your tree with a chunky knit blanket keeps the room looking at all kinds of warm and cozy.

Decorated Mirror Christmas Minimal Style

Jamie Dana decorated her hair salon with the minimalist Christmas decorations concept.

A few branches of eucalyptus over the mirror and a wooden tree on the shelf add just enough festivity to the salon.

It's important to not only keep the holiday spirit in your home but also take it to your workplace this year. It will spread so much cheer.

And who knew cacti could be Christmas-y!

Minimalist Christmas Piano

Evergreen branches on top of a chalk painted piano make for the perfect place to place Christmas gifts under on the 25th.

Holly adds beautiful splashes of red to the delicate color of the piano.

And don't forget a cute place to hang your stockings!

If you want to chalk paint a piece of your furniture check out our how to paint with chalkpaint.

Valentines banners are the perfect way to decorate for Valentine's Day. We are sharing sweet homemade banner and garland ideas that you can make for the holiday. Banners can be a kiss to those you love without smothering.
Valentine Banner Ideas

An easy way to decorate for Valentine's day is to add Valentines banners to your fireplace, hutch, or pretty much anywhere. We have made a few homemade heart banners for our house but we couldn't help but take a peek at what our friends have and share with you.

Here is what our friends have created for Valentine's day and we are sharing our ideas too.

So many different materials are used to make Valentine's banners we gathered together. Not to mention the different colors that are used to add a touch of love to this Holiday.

Grain Sack Ticking Banner

Valentine's Banners Orchard Slope

When you think of a fabric that fits best in a farmhouse, you immediately think of grain-sack ticking striped fabric. So what's better than red stripes cut in heart shapes and sewn on old book pages? Once these beauties are attached to some twine, they can be hung so everyone can see.

Orchard Slope's banner has love written all over it.

Bedroom Valentine Banner Idea

Valentine's Banners Pearl & Jane

One room that is often overlooked when it comes to decorating for holidays is the bedroom. But Amy at Pearl and Jane solves that issue with her adorable banners. And who says you have to choose just one to hang? Stacking these garlands add so much festivity to this room!

Easy Heart Garland

Perfectly Distressed garland is made with paper heart doilies, precut heart burlaps, and twine. Sometimes simple is the best way to go.

Now, can we stop and talk about this precious tic tac toe pillow? It's a perfect addition to your Valentine's decor and the kids or grandkids (or even us grown-ups) would have a blast playing a game!

Felt Heart and Ball Garland

Valentine's Banners Friday Street Project

Friday Street Project's felt heart garland has such subtle hints of red mixed into ivory and gray, that it would be the perfect garland for so many occasions.

Don't you love it when you buy a piece of decor that can be repurposed in so many different ways? Picture this draped on your tiered tray like the one on the Valentine Tiered Tray post we featured, or hung on your fireplace for an anniversary or even snuggled into your tree at Christmas.

Paper Grain Sack Heart Banner Idea

Valentine's Banners Slightly Coastal

Don't have grain sack fabric, but love the look for a Valentine's banner? Nancy at Slightly Coastal made this with such an inspiration. She grabbed some white card stock, a red Sharpie and just a few crafting supplies and made a lazy girls grain sack Valentine's decoration. We love it!

Homemade Chalkboard Valentine Banner

Valentine's Banners Sweet Rose & Wren

Hanging Valentine's banners on a chalkboard with a sweet message is so perfect! But why stop there?  Cherie at Sweet Rose and Wren made an adorable heart project with her daughter and displayed it on a tray.

Don't forget your felt garland! Draping them over a crate is perfect and the colors of this strand will carry you into Easter!

Mirror Valentine's Banner Idea

Valentine's Banners Cami Tidbits

Cami over at Tidbits has come up with the sweetest new tradition. A countdown to Valentine's Day with sweet things to do that show love to others.  Each tucked inside an adorable little bag. Doesn't this countdown make a great banner to display!

DIY Wooden Valentine Banner Idea

Talk about easy! This Valentine banner is made a store bought wood banner, laser cut hearts and silhouette letters.

You can pain this garland or leave it all natural like we did at our house. Our heart garland is a subtle way of celebrating the love holiday without it screaming red or pink.

This homemade Valentine banner also blends in nicely with your other home decor colors.

To see more photos and learn how to make a valentine's garland see my Valentines banner post.

Doily Heart Garland Valentine Banner DIY

And last to finish off all these wonderful DIY Valentine banner ideas here is our personal favorite project.

This easy doily heart garland is so easy to make and is very inexpensive. You can purchase everything at the dollar store. It takes less than an hour to make and you can change out the doilies for other colors like red or pink.

See how simple it is to make this doily heart garland. We love ours so much until we keep it hanging on our hutch other months of the year too.

CONCLUSION

Now that we've all been inspired to find Valentines banners or two to add to our decor this Valentine's season, we couldn't help but think about the greatest banner of all…
